The AI actually used mechanised for once and pushed me back to the urals. My friend got also heavily beaten by Japan until we both where confined to his home province. Somehow we still won. the only true way to win a war

The easy way to win the civil war is to make sure you keep Burgos or Valladolid. That way you have contiguous borders while the Nationalists are split in two (or even three if you can cut off the states they take in the south). Pin any enemies at the front line, walk into any unoccupied provinces, and try to encircle as many enemies as you can before the "lines solidify" event happens. After that, you can pretty safely tell all your armies to constantly push, since the enemy troops do almost no soft attack so you aren't wasting equipment or manpower. You can also start building infantry units with artillery as soon as the war begins, and they make it so much easier. Basically none of the enemy units even have artillery, so if you put a few on the Infantry Division template it'll be the strongest thing in the war (besides the volunteers). Use the strong troops and the prepared offensive decisions to crush the encircled parts of the enemy and encircle more. I'm not very good at the game, and I can still easily beat the Nationalists about a month before the anarchist uprising, which makes the war so much easier.

Ridiculous mechanics if you ask me.

I think in hoi4 elections just mean for political parties and country leaders, so it would mske sense to turn it off for anarchism because there wouldn't be leaders just direct democracy
