The Go-Go's are an all-female American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1978. They rose to fame during the early 1980s as an all-female band that both wrote their own songs and played their own instruments, rising to the top of the Billboard album charts with Beauty and the Beat, their 1981 debut album which is
considered one of the "cornerstone albums of US new wave" (AllMusic)
'Our Lips Are Sealed was the single of that album that charted around the world. After dissolution of The Go-Go's in 1985, leadsinger Belinda Carlisle went on to have a successful solo career.

What's interesting is that my wife not only played bass professionally, but that she resembled Kathy too. Petite, black hair, dark eyes. She also had a friendly, outgoing nature.

When the band started none of them could play an instrument so to start from nothing is great, more so for an all female band, and they were all from working class backgrounds, nobody had a rich daddy or music biz contacts they built it from nothing and made it on their own.

Saw them from right up front opening for the Police in winter '82 in Springfield, Ma. Like several have said already, I fell in love with Belinda that night....lol. Both bands were tremendous and it's one of my favorite concerts ever.

I concur, there's songwriter Jane Wiedlin. I think they put featuring Belinda Carlisle in the title because she had a successful solo career in the 1980s when the Go-Go's broke up. It was like when Jeffrey Osborne was with LTD in the 1970s, but in the 80s he had a solo career too. And there is Lionel Richie, who left the Commodores in 1982 for a solo career.

The Go-Go's were inducted into The 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday night October 30, 2021. The Go-Go's didn't have any musical masterplan. Punks at the start, they became rock and roll pioneers.

I was with my girlfriend Karen at the Livingston Roller Rink during the summer and her friend was home from college. She skated with us before and very good on skates. Her friend was excited about skating with me again after seeing that I was a Pro-Roller Skater!!! We said "hello" to each other and hung out together!! We skated for a while then sat down together!! Karen and her friend went out on the skate floor, I was sitting down and this song started to play. My energy level went "NUCLEAR"!!! then I SCREAMED as loud as I Could and fired out onto the skate floor!! Karen and her friend heard me and saw me coming up on them quickly!! Karen turned to her friend and said " My BABY is wound up tight"!!! I took their hands and then we cleared the skate floor!!!! I was starting to LOSE my MIND!!! I gave everyone there the skate lesson of their LIVES!!! Karen and her friend were FREAKING OUT!!! as I was just throwing them around like stuffed toys!!! Karen's friend was crying from the energy and intensity I was showing her. I ELCTRIFIED the rink!!! When we got done the other skaters were in SHOCK!!! and cheering from the show I put On!!! Karen and her friend were hugging and kissing me in tears after what they witnessed!!! Karen's friend told me " I never skated with anyone who had the energy and intensity you have"!!! No wonder you are a skating champion"!!! Karen said to her friend " When I skate with my boyfriend I have to be ready for a Pro-Roller skating show"!!! He makes me more than proud to skate with him!!!

I grew up with the Go Go's, and Belinda is one year older than me. We went to LOTS of concerts, but we thought we were too cool to see the Go Go's back in the day. That is one of my life regrets along with not seeing the Bangles, Bee Gees, Blondie, and Abba,
