Join me as we visit some of East Harlem's landmarks along Pleasant and First Avenues. We’ll visit the cobblestone street where one of the key Godfather scenes was filmed as well as one of the storefronts used in The Irishman.
You'll also see the restaurant which boasts the most coveted tables in New York City. And of course, I'll be offering some food suggestions.

The fact you didn't mention that East Harlem was the original Little Italy and that you erroneously said the 2 train goes thru the area makes me question your "expertise" in the neighborhood.

The Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics use to be Benjamin Franklin High School up to early 1980's I believe they had the first Italian American principal. Frank Sinatra was suppose to have been asked to go there in in the 1940's to help stop some racial problems

So THAT liquor store you passed on 116th and Pleasant was also a bar/TAVERN in the 70s and 80s where Mob guys hung out....and yes...THE FBI WAS doing surveillance of the Genovese family in My school MANHATTAN CENTER, that was the high school I attended from 83 to 87...we found out years later , but the MOB never bothered us kids...so yeah movies were filmed there because that Whole Area was MOBBED UP and where some families lived .....yes I grew up in Spanish Harlem ..I should have given this tour...

BRIAN I just found your video and must say YOU ARE EXCELLANT IN YOUR PRESENTATION! I guessed perfect that this must be taken in FEBRUARY because I was the fella who made those street crossing paths on PLEASANT tru the snow at 118street (I shovelled at 2 am time possibly just before you came tru and noticed no water in the paths which is just the way it was at 2am) and of course you mentioned VALENTINES DAY**** When you came out of 114 street onto PLEASANT across the closed fence on the side of the high school that was the EAST RIVER and across the river is RANDALL,S ISLAND and across RANDALL,S is ASTORIA (that is looking eastward)! When you walked toward 118street you were facing NORTH toward the BRONX (which you can walk into the BRONX by going across 1st.avenue up to the 125street bridge and either walk with the traffic flow and either LEFT or RIGHT into the BRONX!) A few of us are still in the area-last count of ITALIANS including myself number at around 18-down from the 66,000 that made up the BIGGEST ITALIAN area in just about all 5 BOUROUGHS!!!! (the 66,000 figures from just about 1935 tru the early 1940s-then the WAR and after that the G.I.BILL taught many a very good TRADE and up till 1971 it was OFF TO THE SUBURBS they moved to********! I hope I,M right about that 66,000 tally which I found in a few history type books/articles.If you need to study the different NYC AREAS try the ARGOSY BOOKS/MAPS/HISTORICAL ARTICALS SHOP on 59street between LEXINGTON and PARK AVENUES in MANHATTAN (of course)***! GOOD LUCK on your travels*******
