I think of my 4th great grandfather, whose naturalization record I have from 1858. On it, he renounced allegiance “to the Grand Duke of Baden, of whom I am a subject”. After enduring a perilous voyage, in New York Harbor he threw off centuries of poverty and servitude in Europe. His descendant, my great grandmother, lived a life of peace and joy compared with Germans of her generation. She lived with dignity to 98 years old, surrounded by family.

The Tragedy of Michael Corleone, from losing his elder brother to being betrayed by the other one, losing his love to losing his father and then his daughter. The Godfather part 1 and part 2. Greatest movies ever made
@TheLocalLt3 жыл бұрын
Imo Michael is kind of an overrated character. I like the character and I like the way Pacino portrays him, but Vito, even in Part 2, is just on a whole different level as far as charisma and personality. That storyline just seems far more interesting too, as I find the Vegas/Feds storyline is too stereotypical of American crime movies, though I think some of the Miami and Cuba scenes are unique and cool, such as the scene where Hyman Roth is watching football at home like any other Miami retiree, as well as some of the scenes in Havana. But I think if you could combine the Vito scenes from Part 2 with the entirety of Part 1 that would be the best possible combo

I have thought a lot about this, and I consider this to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. Sometimes when I can't sleep, I'll lay in bed listening to the godfather soundtrack, this piece in particular, deep in thought about my life. In my many sleepless nights listening to this, I have decided when I pass, if I were ever to raise a family, my final wish would be that all my children, my wife, and my three brothers, be it they are still alive, to listen to this all together, for two reasons. 1. Like previously mentioned, I think this is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. I believe listening to this is almost therapeutic, and I hope my siblings and children can find the same comfort I found when listening to this. 2. Just as this played when young Vito was traveling across the sea to start a new life, I too will be traveling to a new life up in heaven. I would appreciate if my family were able to listen to this and understand I am off to a better place, and I'll have this playing up in heaven when they come to join me all those years down the road. edit: grammar
