I've had that fruit some years ago, but it was quite interesting to see how it's grown.I took the kernel from the seed because the outer part was so hard that i thought if i planted it the way it was a plant would quite a while to grow. Unfortunately it did not grow. I'm quite grateful for the way you keep hightliting these fruits trees.

A Canistel fruit is a glowing yellow, waxy skinned fruit with a flesh that has the consistency of a hard-boiled egg yolk. It is veryyyy sweet. Highly superior in the tropics, the canistel is seldom grown in the United States. Fruits can be highly variable in size and shape--ranging from round to pointed and ovaloid.Canistel is colloquially called "eggfruit". When it ripes, it is said to have a texture similar to the cooked egg yolk. The meat of the fruit is sweet and edible raw. It is soft, and it is not juicy. Inside the fruit are a few large polished black or dark brown seeds. Taste-They have an excellent taste in ice cream. In milk shakes they taste like eggnog. This fruit grows in on my farm., you can eat the peel.

It should be easy to prepare different types of products for sale both in urban Jamaica and to the diaspora . Please investigate the possibility of a government or private grant to do research in commercial farming if the egg fruit and in the preparation of dietary products for sale. Thanks for the video. That's what I thought it was. I've seen it in the international food store here in Virginia. Whenever I see it again, I will surely buy it to try it.... I'm originally from and grew up in Jamaica.

I tried his fruit years ago and I did not like it at all. I like juicy and/or crunchy or a combination of juicy and crunchy. This fruit offended my palette 😂. I don't even eat ripe bananas and only started eating ripened mangoes a few years ago but i prefer green mangoes. Canistel fruit is what would happen if a ripe banana and a stinking toe got together and had a child 😂😂😂😂...mushy texture and cloyingly sweet.

We call that mami supporter. It’s good for women for breastfeeding, if you can’t produce milk. It’s also good for people that cannot eat. Lots of vitamin c. LOTS🇧🇸 I used that in that Bahamas for all three of my children.
