I got to spend several days with the new redesigned 2022 Nissan Frontier, and I've got some things I like and don't like. There's nothing major about this Frontier that I don't like but these are more-so nitpicking items. Overall the Frontier is nicely done and modernized while it still retains it's traditional truck feel.

I had a hard time deciding what to talk about here. *One thing a lot will probably hate - it doesn’t have a manual transmission available, at all.* What are the best and worst things about this Frontier to you!? Here’s the full review: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fZ1ie5aBtdbZfn0.html

Had a 2005 Crew Cab for 16 years. Got rid of it this year for a Honda Ridgeline. The new version does look much better. Got over 220,000 out of my 05 and it is still running strong. Nissan does make a pretty good truck. Great review! 👍👍

I just got my new 2022 SV and completely agree with all said. Switching from Lexus RX hybrid I wouldn’t complaint about heavy steering :)) I knew what I was doing by getting this Nissan and so far I like it’s functionality at first. The cab is amazingly quite and roomy enough. We will see what the future bring to us but after all I think I made right decision. Thanks a lot for your review

Nice review of the new Frontier. Those dislikes you point out are minor in my opinion. If someone likes the truck overall, they’ll live with it and adapt. Two years ago, when I was truck shopping I really wanted the Frontier but the lack of room in the back seats were a deal breaker for me. I’m a girl dad times 2 , both college age, still living at home and the Frontier just wasn’t going to cut it, rear room wise so I went with the Titan. Very happy. Always loved the Frontier though.

If you liked the old Frontier, this will be a step in a slightly different direction. I bought the King Cab which might as well not have back seats. If you are looking for a family size vehicle though, you will not find it in vehicles like the '22 Frontier, Tacoma, or Ranger or the little GMC knock off (name escapes me). You are better off going for the full size crew cab. The extra 5 inches is on the front, as he pointed out in the video, does nothing to increase the foot room in the cabin. I will say, they insulted the cab a whole lot better on the '22 model. I have traveled around Texas on the highways where the posted limit is 80. The drivetrain handled the speed okay, but the last generation of the Frontier SV it didn't seem the like the cab was very well insulated. The '22 is quiet at highway speeds, until someone tries to invade you space and the anti-collision systems starts chatting it up.

I was in the market for a SV Sport 4x4 Frontier. I went for a test drive, and returned to get the payment options. The pricing I got from the dealership was substantially higher than the online pricing tool, and the salesperson and sales manager unable to explain this besides for “wheel and tire warranty” “winter mats” and “docking security fees” which totalled $3600 over MSRP. Needless to say I went to Toyota the next day and had them order a Tacoma with no hidden add ons and MSRP pricing, so it ended up the Tacoma was cheaper than the Frontier. I don’t think Nissan is going to get any market share from Toyota like that, and almost a month later that same truck I test drove is still sitting on their lot

This isn’t a Nissan Frontier issue but more so just a dealership issue. Basically you first went to a bad dealership then went to a good dealership. If you were sold on the frontier you should have just hit another dealer. Played them against each other. It’s also just a lack of knowledge on how to deal with dealerships. You settled for what they wanted instead of making them work for your business. I could 100% bet that that the first dealership would have dropped their dealer pricing to get your business.

Very fair review. As the owner of three Frontier King Cab 4x4's I agree the driver's seat needs a tilt adjustment and the steering wheel needs to be telescoping. However the fact that the seat is elevated and more similar to a full size truck and not on the floor like a Tacoma is largely why I have bought these vehicles. I think the wheelbase is identical to the previous generation which is a good thing as it was derived from the Titan's fully boxed frame. It's heavier than the Tacoma but worth it as a sturdy foundation. The extra length appears to be from the front wheel center line forward. It may be a style statement but it could also improve front safety collision. As I recall the previous generation didn't perform as well as other mid-size trucks in some of those front collision tests? I also really like the heavier hydraulic steering. All three of mine have tracked down the highway at crusing speed with amazing stability, even better than some full size trucks. Also the util-track has been super handy. I use mine all the time. I work my trucks hard and also use them for hunting. The improve quietness is especially appreciated. I'll be trading for the new one - just wish Nissan was offering the Pro-4X model in the King Cab. OK thank you appreciate it

I'd say the options such as heated seats and led lights are an extra because of the chip shortage. I've been waiting to test drive one and its good to know about the lack of steering and seat adjustment.

Your video review was spot on! I loved the hat! I have been the owner of a 2022 Nissan Frontier for 6 months now and I absolutely love it! I agree that the LED headlights should come standard because they make this truck's stance look bada$$, especially at night. Another feature I wish was standard is the electronic locking tailgate. I have a key to lock mine, but wish it locked with the key fob. Also, I would prefer a telescoping steering wheel and a tilting up option on the driver's seat. However, with so much going right on this truck, I choose to overlook these few flaws. As most know, dealers noticed a long time ago that they can make tons of money by making different trim levels, so, I expect it. I have the ProX model with the Pro X Convenience pkg, Pro Tech pkg, and the Pro Premium pkg. The 10-speaker w subwoofer Fender audio system also rocks, as well as the smooth ride with a handsomely capable 310 hp engine. My truck was stickered new at $42K and would have been closer to $35K without some of the feature packages, but these extras sold me. I know some people do not, but I prefer the leather seats, moonroof, wireless charging pad, factory spray-on bedliner, upgraded wheels and all terrain tires, Bilstein shocks, LED bed lighting, dampened tailgate, side steps, etc. coming on the truck. This way, I don't have to pay for it later! This truck has more features - too many to name here - than my 2020 Ram Big Horn for way less money. Plus, it fits in the garage!! A comparable trim level on the Ram for the features I have is a Laramie, which costs north of $50K used, and new ones are now over $70K. Nissan has hit it out of the park with this modern desert runner. The technology is amazing on this truck, and I can park flawlessly due to the bird's eye view camera. Glad I get to drive it as my daily driver AND as the family's adventure rig. Happy trails to all.

There are some of us old timers that love the tilt wheel. A tilt/telescoping wheel should never be adjusted on the go as you might find yourself in a new lane - not good! Flipping the tilt wheel up makes more space for getting in and out, then flip the wheel where you want it easily. Great short video, thanks! Deciding between 2022 Ridgeline (had 2017 before) and the 2022 Frontier (because of the tilt wheel).

Good and fair review. As you noted, the non-telescoping steering wheel is mind boggling in 2022. Knowing that was an issue, we test drove twice and my wife and I had no issue with finding comfortable driving positions. We fought hard against the dealer mark ups (+$5K in NJ) and got more for our trade in the process. I looked at a lot of reviews (yours included. We knew the pluses and minuses and decided to purchase, hard to beat 1.9% financing on this as well. Overall, very happy with it so far and Nissan has done a good job of balancing old and new school tech for a solid truck in this segment. Last point, these are selling briskly and finding the Pro 4X w/leather is like searching for a unicorn. We had to go out of state (PA to NJ) to find that combo of features.

Well made, and informative video. I have owned several Nissans over the years (2 Maximas, 1 Altima, 1 Sentra, 1 Pathfinder, 2 Armadas). I am not Pro-Nissan over anything, it just has happened to be what I bought. I am comparing this to other Mid-Sized PUs... I drove a 2022 Toyota Taco, CrewCab, 4x4, TRD. I was working a surveillance case in Salt Lake City. I drove throughout Utah for a few days.. Then drove 1925 miles back home (98.5% Highway). I ... HATED the truck. Hate.. And I have owned several Toyotas. I assumed I would love it. It was seriously the worst riding vehicle I have driven in 20 years.. I can only compare it to my 97 TJ w/6" lift, 35" tires... If I was driving and I drove over a bug, the Taco bucked and bounced like I was driving down a fire-road at 80 mph. I am hoping when I go to test the Frontier, that it has better a better on-road drive. I have a unique situation for my "commute". I live in the boonies in Northern MI. I drive nearly 100 miles one way from my home to my office... Then home again. The kicker is the last 12 miles is very rural.. and the last 3 are dirt/mud, and the last of the 3 is on a seasonal road (the road I live on), that is not maintained by the county. It commonly has 12-24" gullies/washouts. So.... As much as I'd love to have a car because 90% of my drive is 80-85mph, I can't make it home in parts of spring/fall, and winter. My disdain towards the Taco cannot be highlighted enough. I have a few friends that told me there had to be something wrong with it. IDK.. Perhaps, but IDK what. I definitely do not drive slow, but it felt like it was going to flip, and it bucked at any speed over 70. I was driving 80-90 most of the way home from Utah.. I did average 21.5 mpg.. Which for as hard as I drove it, it was more than fair. I think I drove as fast as I did to get out of the truck.

Nearly every video I've seen on this truck brings up the same negatives, be it media or personal opinion. Not including them in this video would have been an oversight. Negative opinions aren't meant to be seen as trash talk, rather informative bits of info a potential buyer should consider for themselves. The fact that Prime began with the negatives and ended with positives about the truck is a tactic intended to leave the viewer with a good, overall impression of the truck.

One + thing I like about the 2022 F is that external width remains fairly narrow. It fits in smaller spaces as compared to other large or midsize trucks. I have logged about 7,000,000 miles in pickups in my lifetime without an accident and I attribute my safety and luck to gravitating toward the smaller, less clumsy vehicles, including 1997 and 2002 Frontiers. Hopefully Hitachi will get around to making cheap replacement parts for this new frontier like they do for prev generations. The lack of 5 speed manual is a downer but I drove this and its way better than the camry engine ill fitted to a 6 speed transmission. way better. I dont buy now because the price is excessive in the present market situation.

Which truck is bigger Tacoma or Frontier? The Tacoma Double Cab and Frontier Crew Cab can accommodate five. The two Frontier cabs offer more rear-seat legroom, headroom, and shoulder room than the equivalent Tacomas. With a pickup truck, the cargo box is of great importance. The 2023 Frontier's cargo box is wider and has taller sidewalls than the Tacoma's.Dec 1, 2022

My 2011 Xterra was totaled a little over a month ago and I replaced it with a well-maintained 2016 Frontier Pro 4X. I was determined to stay with this platform because it is reliable. I have little doubt that I will reach 300k miles with few issues. What I like about the 2022 Frontier is that they did not abandon what made the Frontier/Xterra special. And that's just my opinion. I thought this was a fantastic review. Liked and subbed.

You can only get the LWB in a SV trim and the only package is the Technology package, No Premium, and No Pro packages. Bought a King Cab 4X4 today. I took my 2019 in for a routine service and they just took delivery on two 2022's, a 4X2 and a 4X4, both a candy apple red, both SV models. I drove a 2007 Tacoma 4x4 for 8 years, and except for the slightly quieter cab (much quieter than the 2019 Frontier) and the 9 speed transmission, it really hands a lot like a Tacoma 4x4 and the size is comparable. The safety equipment is cutting edge and the audio interface also got a big boost. If I had to make any changes cosmetically, since they got rid of all the chrome, I would have put black wheels instead of the stock fake chrome wheels. Above 75, there also seemed to be a tell-tale rumble, but on a new vehicle you tend to feel every nuance until the new wears off.

My nitpick, is why don't they make the rear seats "modular" where they are easily removable, giving the user more options. I have a dog that rides with me frequently and I have the second and third row seats removed from my 100 series land cruiser. Goose Gear makes some platform systems for Tacoma/Tundra if removing the backseat. Unless you spend $$ on a bed cap cover, there's really not a ton of storage space.

Just a few points you overlooked. After 7 new Dodge/Rams since 2007, 4 of them 2500 4x4/Cummins I traded my 2018 2500/Cummins for a Tactical green 4x4 SV with convience and tech group. I have 2750 miles on my new Datsun and it is in the shop with issues. The cloth on the front seat has separated from the seat bottom. The rep looked at it on 01/12/22 and approved a new seat. The seat has a slight rock from the play in the electric adjuster linkage. The transmission has surging issues ever since they idled it up to eliminate the rattle/harmonic vibtration in the sheet metal on the engine with 300 miles on it and something is not jiving, Idon't know maybe it is the throttle body thing communicating with the transmission that it is time to go and it means quick. And that is when a Tervis tumbler of water or whatever it has in it pours all over your center console. The dealer has had me in a rental Rouge since the rep looked at my truck and a rep from the factory has called me on 01/13 and on 01/14. As far as design flawsgo the center console has about as much use as a bread box turned on end , the cup holders will not hold anything unless it is 3 3/8 in diameter and straight sided. The bluetooth dies when you parlk and kill the ignition. If you are on an important phone call and need to finish before switching to your handset, which is not seamless at all then you must finish with the engine running. Nissan took until 2022 to invent the gas powered cell phone, I am sure the Climate Change crowd is going to love that one. The popups that remind you to increase the volume on your connected device and the one that reminds you that"your call history has been updated" are so old at 2700 miles I can't even imagine keeping this truck for that reason alone. They hang on screen for 4 to 5 seconds. I didn't enter into my blue tooth to read, I did it to make a call. Why don't any of you reviewers point out these real world consumer tips. Their is a lot to love about this truck but if you are a dyed in the wool truck buyer like me then these are far more important than the remodel they put on the gen II. I bought this as my retirement vehicle as I am 62yo and chose this truck based on my families good history with the brand. This is my first new Nissan and my first small truck in 45 years.

You nailed it with the rear leg room issue. I have a full size Sierra 1500 and there is a TON of leg room in the back. Way more than necessary for me and my needs. I would actually much rather be in a mid-size truck, but the downsize goes from way too much leg room, to no where near enough. The back seat of a Tacoma for instance is insanely bad.

I finally test drove a loaded P4X and I have the same issue with the seats. My loaded 2019 seats IMO are more comfortable since the drivers side does have that tilt. First thing I was trying to do was tilt the seat up. And it wouldn't. I sort of felt like the seat was slopping down and lower then the outgoing. Furthermore, the passenger side is no longer powered. This is more then a bit frustrating since a loaded P4X literally costs 7K more. And when you account that one used to get a few grand off a few years back on MSRP and most of these loaded 22's are selling up to 5K over MSRP the difference in price is ridiculous. I agree the ride is greatly improved. Nissan has done a really good job in tuning/mapping this 9 speed. There were some complaints with this same trans in the 20/21 but apparently Nissan is offering a software update to match the 22 software. Power wise its pretty decent and a ton quieter in acceleration. The cabin is way more refined. Still its hard to overlook that I can't find my sweet spot on the seat. Limited range of motion on the electric seat. The zero gravity seat that Nissan boasts so much about is a step backward from the older upgraded leather seat. Its almost a deal killer for me in fact. Seat comfort is pretty important issue.

But I'm honestly happy overall with this truck. It reminds me of the 2000s Dakota's and I test drove a pro 4x the other day. Very happy with how it drives etc. I'm not really in need of big, big 1500 trucks. Also in Canada full sizes trucks go for in high 60k and above.

I bought the SV 4x4 with tech and convenience pkg. Pretty happy so far but the constant long popups in the Bluetooth system are enough to make me regret the purchase. The cup holders are 100% worthless at holding anything but a 3 3/8 inch diameter water bottle. The center console storage is like a breadbox standing on end. I have the green and the finish is awesome. Definitely a step in the right direction.

What I was thinking too. It's puzzling why and how they overlooked that aspect. b/c clearly their development team spent a great amount of time redesigning and crafting the new Nissan from the ground up basically. Why do you think they disregarded that feature? The very small advantages you might could claim from not having a telescoping wheel are far outweighed by the negatives from not having it IMO.

The dealership only has one 4 door and they have 4 king cabs, two of them being pro4x models. Tacoma def takes the cake, as there are no new ones around but many Nissan dealerships here have a few select Frontiers. I loved the tight steering, gf complained a bit about it. But I do agree, it's hard to understand why USA/Canada share a border but have many different configurations that we can't share in a vehicle. All reg cabs up here are all USA imports. One thing I wanted a few years back but got used to having access cabs/4 doors. But def like the look of the access cabs over the 4 doors.
