Missing out on all the perks by being good is a very realistic depiction of the real world

I wish their could have been a minutemen quest where you storm Nuka world with an army of minutemen, and then you have the option to execute any captured raiders with their own collars.

It’s weird that the last DLC of the game encourages you to destroy everything you’ve built up the entire game.

Man, I wish you could betray the raiders by sending them to take a settlement, only to get shredded by the Minutemen waiting in ambush.

You actually don't lose your settlements permanently. You can just take over three settlements for the raiders, finish power play with gaining your two raider perks and then kill all the raiders in Nuka World (Open Season) and your settlements in the commonwealth. After that you regain control over both your three settlements and your supply settlement. That way you can get the maximum out of this DLC and plus it would be both good AND really raider-like to betray the raiders in the end.

Anyone else got annoyed when a settlement was under attack while you were on nuka world?

I started this DLC thinking, "Oooh! I'm going to learn about how raiders are actually deep and complex characters!". Then I step into the Disciples' den and remember thinking, "Uhm, nope, you're all dying now. Right now."

I kinda wish that the good ending was expanded on. Lore-wise, Nuka world would be a really good opportunity for a massive settlement. I have no idea if the game would even be able to handle that, but one can dream

I made a playthrough specifically so I could keep the perks that the Operators and the Pack offer, all you have to do is make sure you complete the Nuka World DLC before meeting Preston Garvey. Once Nuka world is finished and you have the perks you want then you help Preston until he gives you the mission to kill the Nuka World raiders. Keep Nuka World and it's perks, then play through the rest of the game as you normally would

I always like playing a good guy in these kinda games sometimes I consider playing evil but I never follow through.

Why can't you lead an elite platoon of who ever your main faction is to purge nuka world of raiders and start a mini war against them. Especially as the Minutemen this would be a cool experience cause it gives them more to their faction as they are already starving for unique content.

Lol I just realized. The Pack were basically the closest we have had in fallout to furries of the wasteland.

Yeah, I know where your coming from. Which is why, when i play a character based off myself... I do the game this way. Prolog- Old world ends. New one starts. Book One: Track down my kid. Help those i can along the way. Lose my kid (one way or another) Book Two: Falls into pit of despair and anger. (enter Nuka World) Climbs out of self destruction. Book Three: (Begins when i kill Nuka Raiders & Join The Minutemen) Rebuild what i can (Has a way of redemption) Leaves the wasteland, moving on the the next one. Book Four: (Enter Far harbor) Sortout far harbor. One way or another... Epilogue- Return to the Wasteland, pay respects to dead loved one, and disappear into the glowing sea.(END GAME) I do it this way cause it feels the most realistic... Plus it makes me feel like: A Hero that falls, than redeems themselves in the end.

Funny thing to try - Go straight to the market after killing Colter and talk to Mackenzie to get the Open Season quest. Then kill off the gangs and go turn on the power before you go talk to Porter in Fizztop. He'll just stand there and stare at you. He has no dialog options to handle this sequence of events, and won't interact with you at all.

My first playthrough of Nuka World , I didn't realize that even being the slightest cordial with the raider gangs puts implications on you with the minutemen. I found out the hard way after putting in serious time in Nuka world that I returned to a pissed off Preston Garvey. So I started a second playthrough , This time I wasted every single raider in sight. Nearly impossible without Mods.

I found the Nuka world raider gangs to be repulsive and killed every one of them from the start 😂 I also spent enough time with Cait to know she would have the time of her life helping me take down all the raiders 😎

The only problem with being good, in my opinion, is the loss of raider radio. Well that and the feral chair

You got to play Nuka world before saving Preston once you got everything done kill the Raiders you got the loot you get the perks you get the gear so on and so forth just make sure you do it before becoming General

Bringing in your faction like the Brotherhood to wipe'em out should be an option!

The final fight with the Sole Survivor going full slaughter on the raiders reminds me of the Kingsmen Church scene. If only we could have Freebird playing in the background.

I remember shotgunning the head off the leader of the disciples after taking essentially one look around, I mean dear lord, they were MONSTERS

When I did the nukaworld dlc, I opened up all of nuka world for the gangs, until shank wanted to raid my settlements, then did the good ending. I was able to get all the new decorative items from nuka world. But, you have the evil ending quest stuck in your quest log, if you can live with that..

My plan is this: Do some missions for stuff and then purge the whole damn park.

I pick pocketed a slave to get their collar off of them, but they caught me and started attacking.

One issue I have is that in my save I've sided with the brotherhood, so when I give the raiders their settlements I randomly get a misc quest telling me to go protect a settlement. But instead of being other raiders or gunners, it's the brotherhood. So I have to just stand there, not attacking anyone hoping that the brotherhood soldiers don't destroy my whole settlement. This sucks so much and I'm really on the fence about killing all the raiders now that I've finished the raider side of the story. I like Gage and the settlements I took over producing caps so I don't want to do it but I hate the brotherhood attacking the raiders.

I tried to have a "redemption" ending by wiping out all my raider settlements only to discover you can't because the turrets are unkillable. Why they would allow a simple bug to ruin this whole endgame scenario is beyond me.

Why not infiltrate the NW raider gangs with the Railroad? Or meet them on the battlefield with the Minutemen? Or storm their base with the Brotherhood? How epic would that have been?

It felt so good killing dixie especially. She deserved every pain imaginable. Wiping out all the raiders was fun. It would have been better for whatever faction you allied with in the main game and plan a raid against nuka world.

I did this, but a bit differently, when coming into nuka-world the whole thought of being the leader of raiders never sat right with me, and unfortunately through dialogue it didn't seem as if I was ever going to be free of that position. So in mid-convo with Gage I just used the gaus-rifle to blow his brains out then the "open season" quest activated.

I hated how the player always seems so happy even thought he watched his wife die and son get taken away

I've found you still get the extra raider settlement items if you kill the raiders, but you have to then go and clear out each section of nuka world, and complete the respective quests. The items will unlock following the completion of each zone. I did 'Open Season' as soon as I got to Nuka World. Happy Hunting!

Thanks for this, Oxhorn. In my Minuteman playthrough and my first time encountering Nuka-World I became very conflicted. I was willing to help the gangs secure the rest of Nuka World but the second Porter mentioned the Commonwealth, it stumped me in my tracks and the fact that you can’t proceed in restoring the park’s power without conquering some of the Commonwealth for me was a deal-breaker. This video allowed me to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. These raiders are irredeemable and they only wish to loot, murder, and rape anyone they come across. Now I’m going to make the ultimate backstab in Fallout history and go John Wick on these raiders. The only good one is a dead one. 😎

The best way to do this DLC, morally, and gameplay-wise, is this: 1. Do not become General of the Minutemen (at least not until finishing all these steps) 2. Complete the entire Nuka-World DLC on the side of the raiders, with Porter Gage as a companion to acquire his companion perk 3. Complete Shank's Settlement takeover quests until the quest Power Play starts 4. Finish Power Play with the two Raider gangs you want the perks from, they will follow you to the Power Plant during this quest 5. As soon as the two perks are awarded, kill the Raider Gang leaders while they are still on the roof of the Power Plant with you, this will allow you to complete the Open Season quest without having to kill your way through hundreds of Raiders in Nuka-Town USA 6. Go back to the Commonwealth and reclaim the settlements you gave to the Raiders by killing them 7. You are now free to become General of the Minutemen without Preston hating you, allowing you to keep him as a follower AND gain his affinity perk 8. Congratulations! You now have all perk benefits of an evil playthrough, but still keep Preston Garvey as a companion (he won't even comment on it if you complete Open Season before meeting him.)

Thanks for this Ox, I’m about to do this quest and this helped me a great deal. I can’t go along with the raiders, I just can’t stomach slavery in any form, I’d never enjoy the game from that point on if I sided with any of the gangs so it’s going to be a slave rebellion!

I'm about to do my third NW play-through, and I've never thought twice about an ending other than Open Season. Killing slavers justifies creating the most hideously OP Automatron companion the game will allow, IMO, and letting it run wild. Very satisfying!

You can make all the quests for the raiders and then have a "change of heart" and kill them all and retake the settlements, just remember to do it before becoming the general so that preston can stil be talked to

I love how gage really trust's you and doesnt believe you will turn on him like his last leader but if you chose the good ending you do....

I wouldn't say Mackenzie lied. It's an annoying programming feature in all the fallout games. Like in New Vegas. I snipe a Legion patrol from a mile away with an AMR. I'm in the middle of the freaking Mojave desert with no other soul for miles and magically, instantly the legion knows - YOU - did it and are there sworn enemy. It's the same way people can identify you when you are wearing freaking power armor or even after you change your face. I hate it...

On my playthrough, I cleared all the parks, without even travelling with Gage, did the park medallion and Cappy in a haystack quests and then killed all the Raiders. One weird thing that happened was that Nisha was outside of Nuka-Town USA, in a small utility shack and she died in one shot because she'd been fending off a Bloated Glowing One and a few other feral ghouls

On my institute run, I definitely took a few settlements. I banished Preston to Tenpines Bluff and it was smooth sailing after that.

Your videos are amazing and I've lost count of how many times I've watched them but they are great to refresh the memory before playing another zone or level. There is a problem with this DLC. Thematically your character is essentially a good guy by design. This DLC is completely out of place.

I actually like that you don't get the perks for the good ending, I think it makes it more of an "ethical" dilemma. It's easy to do good if there is no cost to it. The idea is to make you think like a raider, hey if I do bad things I get all these benefits. Being good when there really is nothing in it for you seems more realistic somehow. Gage even talks about his becoming a raider because they were the ones that got things & the benefits of being a raider, as well as having everyone scared of you. He mocked the people that chose to take the harder but "good" path, like his parents & work for what they had. Just my take on it though, like a good book good games are open to interpretation. .

I did open season upon getting to Nuka World. Grabbed the Nuka Cola power armor and killed all the raiders. Didn’t even go to Cage after the Gauntlet. Cage was just stationary would not talk. Then I started up the power plant and now I have Nuka World to myself.

The worst thing about Nuka World is that you still can't really be evil. Like when those snarky raiders say $hit to you as Overboss you should be allowed to kill them and keep the rest in line through intimidation.

I fail to see how the logical leap between "Kill the leaders and the gangs will collapse" and "Kill the leaders and the raiders will follow you" is made, especially since it appears that the gangs are loyal solely to their leaders, and the leaders simply tolerate the overboss due to their strategic worth. I frankly don't think she is ever deceptive, she is literal. Might just be a little bit too much in the way of wishful thinking. I wouldn't put too much money on rehabilitation of gangs of psychopaths and sociopaths in a post-apocalypse.

I razed the Raiders of Nuka World faster than I did Ceaser's Legion and Paradise Falls. No regrets.

Fully appreciated, thank you. Like you and many others I simply can not, will not, side with raiders. They're a blight on the FO landscape, always have been, always will be.

I wish they included a quest branch that makes you convince the raiders the commonwealth is off limits. The raiders taking over Nuka-World already makes it the largest sole settlement that we have seen in the Fallout universe. Yes, keep the enslaving, etc., but leave the commonwealth alone. The raider gang you chose to only give one part of Nuka-World to would then break ranks and start raiding the commonwealth, resulting in the same reactions from companions as if you did start raiding the commonwealth (because it would be your fault for not keeping them under control). That way, there would be a middle ground. The best ending to Nuka-World is not doing anything for the raiders, and just starting open season. You get miscellaneous quests to clear the Nuka-World outposts (allowing you to keep any denizens there if you so desire), and then a miscellaneous quest to restart the power plant. It completely removes the raiders from Nuka-World, bar random encounters which reduces them to just normal bandit tribes. However, this ending will lock out basically all rewards from the raiders, but you get to leave Nuka-World with your head held high, so that's something

I think loosing Preston Garvey is a benefit.

Word to the wise. If you plan on screwing over the Minutemen taking settlements you already claimed for them by force, be sure not to set up heavy machine guns on a settlement early in the game. Forgot I did and was cut to ribbons by my own defenses.🤣

I completed all the raider quests first, got the perks from The Operators and The Pack, then killed them all with my Fat Man, saving the settlers of Nuka World. I also did this before I rescued Preston from Concord, so yeah -- epic story of redemption for my OC. From Overboss to General of the Minutemen. Pickman would be proud.

I would have loved if you could just storm Nuka World with the side you completed the main quest with.

Settlements are an option for the Underground Railroad. I made them a outpost for symths that they rescued to relocate a mid-way outpost.

I went ahead and (peacefully) let them have a settlement in the Commonwealth, but when they wanted 2 more, I went back and just killed the gangs. Then had to come back and clear out the settlement I had given them. Everything seems fine now, but Preston always says something snarky ("I'll never trust you again" or some such) to me whenever I pass him now, even though his affinity is up.

I always looked for the best endings too. I just don't get any gratification from being a bad guy. Some people do, because it's just a game after all and they want to explore that. That's fine, but not for me. When I play a role in a game I take my personality with me. Sounds silly doesn't it. What I find interesting is that the narrative changes based on the moral choices you make in the game. It's not just a shooter, but a story. Bioshock was like that too, and fallout forced the sole survivor to make some very hard decisions. As in life, not everyone is going to be a winner. And in the end you just have to choose what kind of world you want this to be.

The good ending is the most heroic in that the player actualy makes sacrifices for others. Sacrificing things he wants in order to do the right thing. It’s the most heroic decision you can make in game

For the capture/kill quest in good neighbor you can talk to your targets and ask them to follow you after that you can walk them straight out the front door and kill/ ask them to put on the "necklace" does require a speech check but it avoids melting down cities

I killed every gang and leader right from the beginning after I got out of the gauntlet, restore power to nuka, got my Quantum armor and did every little side mission.

They should have gave you Cito, Eagel, and Oswald as companions. To make the good ending more special. Like you gather them and together you all drive the raiders out! Eagel and his fellow western robots along with the Galaxy bots fight, Cito leading his family along with other animals with possibly tamed gatorclaws, and finally Ozwald with his ghouls help as well. Like you and Nuka World as a whole rise up and drive them out together. Gaining freedom and independents

Hmm. I certainly wished the Commonwealth Raiders were the ones the player could join. The Nuka Raiders are added to the main game rather haphazardly.

While on a mission to collar someone in the commonwealth, you can convince your target to follow you outside the settlement (provided you have high enough charisma.) Lead them outside the settlement then collar them when no one is around. I'm not going to destroy my relationship with Good Neighbor since Kleo sells balistic fiber. Plus, I have a fully decked out apartment in Diamond City, so that wasn't an option either.

Getting full genocidal against raiders and supermutants is actually thrilling. And it's also profitable in this case since the traders have respawning caps. I think I've gotten 50-60k just selling the gear from the dead raiders. I had gotten all the goodies from Porter Gage and Cola Cars arena beforehand. Also you can do those radiant quests without any violence or even antagonizing important factions, just lure the target out of the settlements with an easy speak check and collar them there; also avoid those quests targeting Minutemen or BoS, just save before you get them and then if you get such a quest load until you get one targeting gunners or raiders.

Oxhorn quick note. Preston Garvey can give you the open season quest too.

If you do it early, when you have few settlements and before meeting Preston, you can use the raiders to your advantage. You choose anonymous settlements with few settlers that you don't own yet, use the non-violent option, and, after resolving Power Play and killing the raiders bosses afterwards, you can get the raiders settlements back by killing all of them. That way, you can avoid the evil and get all the goodies. :-)

It's when "home sweet home" I realized Gage is greater evil than Colter, by Gage's own word, Colter's mistake was only not too greedy, Colter was insane but the damage was limited. While Gage has his more rational plan to enslave the whole Commonwealth.

You know, when they tell me to destroy the settlement's I started to kill everybody, I remember thinking: "You're not getting close to my settlement's".

Losing the radio guy is the biggest detriment IMO.

You don't need to meet with her. Killing any of the raider leaders will automatically trigger the quest Open Season.

Modded with the minutemen invasion, the resulting pitched open feild battle of dozens of your crack minutemen charging into the teeth of the raider hordes... its worth giving up the perks

Each raider gang reminds me of something more specific than the generic raider gang. Disciples- cult Pack- tribals Operators- mercs I just thought this was cool for when it came to selecting which to die and who to support because each gang has there huge differences and in my opinion the last two fit my goal of restoring nuka world well as they demanded the least bloodshed and in time the raiding would dwindle down as it would have for the three families in new Vegas once they settled in and released it didn’t benefit them to do so, rather hindered them.
