Thank you for this. We need to be reminded to be kind even to those who don't look like us because sadly racism is still an issue in the church that harms the spiritual growth of some people keenly affected by the antisocial effects of racism. I've heard this story before but I have seen this parable in a new, informative light. Lately I had much in common with the man traveling to Jericho, and the police, social services, child protective services, CIA, attorneys, and judges were the robbers that beat me leaving me half dead, but praise the Lord! The parable does not end here. Jesus will take me up, anoint my wounds, exalt me on His humble mode of transportation (i.e. donkey), bring me to the inn (i.e. the church), and allow me to heal and be restored.

We live in a time very much like the time of Jesus. With the Greek and culture of idolatry worshipping of entertainment such as Gladiator fans Actors Poets Writers Alcohol Drugs homosexually Lesbian Politics Even Liberalism and Far right ideologies. Many many religions immigration poverty migration workers sickness disability greed the list goes on. In this bag back drop Jesus said love your neighbour according to the gospel. A neighbour is a person who lives in proximity to you. Not a relative of a friend even from another culture or even a work colleague. A neighbour who is a stranger who is within your proximity that you live and walk past on your way to worship Jesus who is in need. It is more honouring Jesus Christ to stop and help than to walk past them because of your ministry. That becomes your idol. That's what the Lord has taught me today. God Bless.
