I emigrated 20 years ago but when I hear this it brings tears to my eyes, it just takes me back to a housing estate I used to deliver pizzas to in Dagenham/Rainham in the 90s. It may sound cheesy but Damon paints with words, he creates such a vivid picture.

Always makes me chuckle how there used to be this massive war against Blur and Oasis. I never thought there was any actually quality in Oasis songs. They're pleasant enough but kinda samey. Damon has continued to carve out new kinds of quality in everything he produces. Noel Gallagher's a good songwriter but pales compares to this. I'm not even mentioning Liam...

I'm not sure what you mean by Nathan Barley, but I will say that I am always pleasantly surprised by the emotion I see in his live performances. I think when you listen to him on albums it's easy to get the idea he wouldn't be motivated on stage.

...who cares. I'm American, but I guess I'm in that 20% you're talking about. BTW...I'd put Doug Martsch at Damon's level as far as song writing goes...and I'm guessing, but I bet about only 1 in 100 Brits know who Doug Martsch is...AND his band has been amongst the best music out there for years.

damon isn't as overall good as he was when Blur were still active as he is in ANY of his side projects especially in this one. same for a lot of great artists who do sideprojects like thom yorke, etc. musically different but overall not as great or exciting as in their primary
