What a day! All 5 non-runners! The 9 year old Beemer must have been repairable and as for the Grandland 5 year old has to be better to repair rather than scrap surely?

Bmw had passed an MOT after the video in early November, the 64 plate focus is now taxed again and the grandland has new mot and a ownership change in early November.

@@MattyEngland Eh? No electric cars are being scrapped because they are not going wrong. How many Leafs have you seen being collected on here? Zero. And I've never seen a Leaf combust. Just shows how overly complex and unreliable these cars are..

@@Blackmamba12345 You'll have a shock coming then if you think EVs aren't complex 😂 I can assure you that the new ones have all manner of complicated inverters and battery monitoring tech. Unless you happen to have an oscillascope and a degree in electrical engineering, then your car won't be going anywhere when a single IC or capacitor fails. The only people who think EVs are simple, are people who don't have a clue about electronics. The motors are simple, but that's where it ends! All the other stuff is 10x more complicated than any petrol engine, and most mechanics wouldn't have the first clue where to start.

My 59 plate Clio puts some of these cars to shame. Just shows maintaining your car is important for a long healthy life. It is also worrying though if 5 year old cars are getting scrapped mine could be next lol

The N47 engine has a timing chain which is known to fail prematurely probably due to the BMW extended oil change intervals. Its an engine out job to renew the chain not routine maintenance.

New there was more too the story on the BMW. 20k on the cam-belt I would have taken it back too the mechanic. I assume he didn't get it done at 60k but with the AdBlue issue as well I get it.

I dont know why they scrap them, I have a 2005 Land Rover, 200206 miles, if I spend £500 a year to repair and service its worth it. Better than £700/ every month for 6 years on a new car. People are bloody stupid.

It was an ad blue issue, had been in the dealer several times until it got so bad it would no longer run so the customer had enough and wanted it gone.

Adblu injectors I believe, Kev mentioned it in another comment. Owner had car back to dealer several times but it got to the point it wouldn't run. Apparently its been seen on Autotrader recently, so hopefully new owner hasn't got a lemon and the issues have been fixed.

What was wrong with that 18 plate car. And always change your cambelt and waterpump every 60,000 miles. Unless the engine is chain driven
