Tuco isn't confused in the final dual. He understands there is an alliance with blondie. And they are both looking at each other so that Angel Eyes feels confident enough to draw. If you look at the wide angle, both Blondie an Tuco aim at Angel Eyes.

Wow, the movie is very good - but your statement is pure hyperbole 😉 In my personal list this movie wouldn't even be in the top ten - not because "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly" isn't good! But there are many better moviesI will name just one film which easily tops this one: "High Noon"! It's an interesting little tidbit btw, that Lee Van Cleef's long career as a beloved Hollywood villain started with "High Noon", although he didn't leave a lasting impression in that movie. He didn't even say a single word! But in "High Noon" none of the villains is very impressive - probably because they aren't Will Kane's main antagonists. The good but less than helpful citizens of Hadleyville and time itself are the true antagonists in that great movie.

Well done! I think it's noteworthy that right when the narration says, "After this, we are shown close-ups of all the pistols... This tells us that they are ready for battle," at 21:35, and you can clearly see Tuco's revolver has no percussion caps on the nipples, while Angel Eyes' clearly has the brass caps in place (23:29). Blondie had unloaded it the night before, of course, though it's a bit of a stretch that Tuco wouldn't have noticed it. Plus, the only practical way to unload a muzzle-loading percussion cap pistol is to shoot it. All three carry period-correct 1851 Navy Colts, and while Blondie's is supposed to be a "cartridge conversion," Tuco's switches back and forth quite a bit. Angel Eyes' is always shown as a percussion pistol, near as I can tell, but it changes to an 1858 Remington. The "conversions" are somewhat anachronistic (like the Gatling gun), but hey, who's counting? Still the greatest Western ever made. Also, Tuco doesn't exactly kill all three men in the opening scene; one lives long enough to come back (one-armed) and get killed by Tuco in the bathtub scene. "When you have to shoot, shoot! Don't talk!"

This is a good video! I think Tuco was actually the main character though. The story follows him from beginning to end and it fleshes out his character completely unlike the other two. I don't think it was clear that Tuco and Blondie were working together in the final duel. That's why there was such a delay. In a 3 way standoff the first man to draw will draw fire from the other two and that will make it very hard to survive.

I love the subtext of War. “The world is divided into two parts” & “There’s two kinds of people in this world”. Too me, the film is about men who’re aren’t looking for riches for wealth sake, but more about men who’re willing to do anything too support themselves during a time of division & warfare. It’s greed caused by war. Even now, we still live in a era of division & warfare amongst ourselves.

Interesting information about Mussolini. If Morricone's father had adapted Mussolini's novel, the futute dìctator might have chosen an entirely different and more harmless career, and Italy might not have become Hitler's alley! The decision of the senior Morricone shaped the future.

Clint Easwood is a true legend, and by now I am a great fan . But I think that it took him a long time to become a memorable actor. I am not a great fan of the younger Eastwood. He didn't have an especially memorable face at all, and he needed to mature for a long time. Calling him "Blondie" in this movie actually reflects that Eastwood wasn't yet at the peak of his career. Personally I find him far more attractive and charismatic in old age - like in "Gran Torino".

One thing I think your video failed to mention was the movie goes out of its way to make the CSA sympathetic, which I guess was pretty bold of the creators. In this day and age I dont think this movie would be praised by critics or even green lighted by a studio.

I failed to see this film as a child but decided to watch it as an adult over 50. It is a pleasant film, nothing else, much overrated. I love Sergio's films but I would not feel the urge to watch this once again soon.

Speaking of 50, I've seen it at least 50 times. Overrated?! I don't think so. I think it is one of the greatest movies (and stories) ever done. The story of these three gunslingers, the somewhat comical but deadly Mexican bandit, the ruthless, cold-blooded killer and Blondie the bounty hunter is one for the ages.
@fitless
@fitless 7 күн бұрын
@@MegaMkmiller definetely overrated. The basic story is good but nothing special. The characters act randomly, Eastwood is not strong enough as a lead, the bad guy is too weak. Frank from Once upon a time in the west is way more brutal, Harmonica has lots of mistery around him, Cheyenne is a great supporting character, Cardinale is beautiful. No comparison the Outitw. Kelly's heroes has a lot of common theme, however, with the good, the bad and the ugly and is a more remarkable film.
