I was there and I got a hat signed by Jeff Gordon. And I haven’t gone to a cup race since 2019 Chicago land. I truly enjoyed the race.

They need to stop stages at road courses

NASCAR making the teams choose whether to use slicks or wets was a great decision

Anything to break up the monotony of the short, flat east coast tracks or the mile and a half, oval fuel mileage tracks.

The Xfinity race was an absolute clinic for what NASCAR racing should be like...

It is absurd that this race was scheduled to start at 3:30 pm

Funniest part is when the mayor of Chicago said that nascar is bringing this country together. Clearly he hasn’t been on social media. Jokes aside I really like street course racing, but two years in a row of rain and not going to the scheduled distance has me worried. At least the race needs to moved back an hour or two.

I would say another ugly is Bubba dooring Bowman and Elliott dooring Suarez on the cool down lap. If you have a problem with a driver after the race, don't use your car as a weapon, get out of the car and either talk or fight. Using your car as a weapon just makes you look like a huge loser imo.

Nascar has to find a way to limit caution laps at road courses. Like they should be able to call an audible to go green if the track is clean and clear. And have another choose zone so they don’t have to waste an another lap under caution because they have to choose.

Fwiw, Joey Hand almost winning the race was pretty sick

I can tough it out with a 10am west coast start. In fact I'd prefer that for the vast majority of races.

I like that they are dumping cookie cutters. Would like them to try an even more technical street course. Personally i think they should race at the Nashville street circuit indycar uses

I’d say give it one more chance (basically until the contract ends) to prove that the street course can be feasible. Since NBC doesn’t have IndyCar obligations next year, there’s no excuse for them to have another late start time.

The race starts too late. I live in the Great Lakes region, albeit in Canada. When it’s hot and the lakes are still cold, there is a good chance of pop up showers and storms later afternoon/ early evening. Start the race at latest 1pm and it should be fine. I’ve gone from not missing a race to barely watching over the last 3-4 years because of the 3pm or later starts.

Does anyone have an explanation as to why this race was scheduled to start a hour later than the xfinity race despite having no prior on track activity and guaranteed heavy rain incoming? We've already learned that there's a maximum amount of falling rain that is safe to race in, so why not move the race up? NASCAR has a history of doing so when weather threatens an oval race. I think this race should've been able to go the full distance with just a little forward thinking

Interesting Fact About this race: Joey Hand, in the stage 60 RFK car, won the 60th scheduled stage of the 2024 season.

Anything for less cookie cutters. Really they need to be back at historic short tracks though. Not bowman gray, non gimmick ones

No stage breaks at road courses or superspeedways

The Xfinity race on Saturday was excellent! Watching for 5 hours to see 38 laps of actual racing on Sunday, not so much.

IMO, it was a decent race. If they run it again next year, that could be cool to see if the Cup race could finally get some good weather. But after that I’m fine with them taking it off the schedule. A street course is an interesting quirk that nascar doesn’t do much of, and I think they could move it to another city for not 2026, but 2027 (take a year off).

7:16 stage breaks should go back to just another green lap. No caution. Remember they did that before. I didn’t mind that.

Good: Racing was solid without rain and red flags. Bad: Some fans hate road courses and want Chicagoland back immediately. Ugly: NASCAR officiating running so many pace laps due to being afraid of rain. Some citizens want the race gone ASAP.

This is what I think about the Chicago Street Course. The first year, it was.. good in my eyes. But, the second year, gave me mixed emotions. Like some fans, I wanted the Chicago Street Course to come back, and it did! But this year, I think it could be time for a change. And no I’m not saying I don’t like it, but how the weather is and other things are, really made the race feel wacky. Even though I would love to have a street course on the schedule, I guess it really doesn’t work to well. It would be awesome to have a international race or a street course that DOSENT have bad weather.

Seeing as Bowman has killed off tracks in the past few years he won at, this will be axed the moment the lease is up. Not to mention some fans are getting irritated by the weather ruining it... twice. They need to change it up, cause Chicago and summer don't go together. Also, didn't the mayor hate NASCAR?

Imma be honest, with the exception of the Chicago Street Course, there is no reason why any track should not have lights

People should give Ty Gibbs more credit. He runs up front week after week. He led the most laps and finished 3rd in this race.

NASCAR needs give Daytona it's 4th of July date back and they need to go back to Chicagoland. It'll never happen, but one can hope.

Throw some lights NASCAR! Vegas has lights, Singapore has lights, and other F1 tracks. Light Chicago up.

You can tell nascar's talent pool isn't that high anymore, whenever they are slightly out of their element they really struggle

Nascar needed to move up the start time as soon as NWS issued their local forecast discussion at 3am Sunday morning. Weather models all week had convection brewing for Sunday mid and late afternoon

me as an european i hate the late start times cause i cant watch the race in its whole entirety. this race the start time for me was 11:30 pm which is just no good. but who cares i am not american

The racing at the start until Josh Berry spun was awesome, especially around lap 13 where SVG and others were all super close together and racing hard. It's a shame the weather was so shit, protestors delayed the start and it was chaos all around because this could have had some of the best racing of road courses.

This is like 5 straight weeks of rain. I know they can’t control the weather but they could do a better job of starting races earlier especially when they know the rain is coming at a certain time.

Well, when it comes to Year 2 of the Chicago Street Race, it was like a coin with two sides to it, one good and one bad/ugly, so let me start with the good side: The Xfinity race was great with the weather extremely great as well because it was a beautiful, sunny day and we went the fully schedule distance for the race and it was also great to see Alex Bowman get back in victory lane for the first time in two years, so that's the good side. Now, here's the bad/ugly side: For the second year in a row, Mother Nature had a role to play in the Cup race with a rain delay and darkness, which led to NASCAR shortening the race from its scheduled distance again. All-in-all, in the end, while I know that NASCAR has an option to run the street race again next year, I would prefer to see NASCAR return to Chicagoland Speedway next year and that's all I've got to say, so goodbye!

You should make a video on the start time debate

I would finish out the contract and I would like to see them have a race there with the weather being nice. Still think it's interesting that NASCAR has a multimillion-dollar track in Joliet that is unused. I would assume it's NASCAR that's paying the bill for this street race, and it's not cheap to put on a street race.

Definitely a hot take on my part but hear me out, IMSA is owned by NASCAR. Just run modified GT3s on road courses, add some HP and remove ABS/TC. Think the old GTE spec for those who know what I am talking about. Ford and Chevy already run in that category, along with Toyota's sister brand Lexus. Just an idea 🤷‍♂

Bring it back by all means, but man is there's still alot of bugs and kinks to workout with this The main thing is you gotta find a way to get this in, Im tired of seeing it get cutoff because of weather screwing things up, find a way to install some lights or portable flood lights or change the start time or even the day if you have too. If you can run the Xfinity race on Friday and run the Cup race on Saturday then do it, just find a way to finish the race instead of having to change things on the fly And Id still like to see this done in other cities (Ive suggested Dallas, Los Angeles, Charlotte, and Indianapolis in the past) because despite the hiccups, its still a pretty cool thing to watch and see the NASCAR go around city streets

I'd greatly appreciate if they keep the street race for 2025, then for 2026 Chicagoland should come back. Also I did schedule predictions for 2025 with TV providers and yes, Chicago would be on TNT.

NASCAR should definitely have their 3rd and final year of the contract with Chicago and hopefully have a banger race if NASCAR isn’t able to return to Chicago with a street race. As far as 2026 it’ll most likely be another city that gets a street race with either being a city that’s had a street race with some form of motorsports like IndyCar or IMSA or F1 like Baltimore, Houston, Miami, Denver, Tampa, New Orleans, etc. with either existing or a new layout or a city that’s never had motorsports within their city. Though if they do go to a different city I think something I would like to see is NASCAR get a support series to race with em for more on track activities if the city will allow it. Could either get GT World Challenge with the GT America Series or IMSA with either the main WeatherTech Championship or Michelin Pilot Challenge or the VP Racing Series or possibly either Porsche Carrera Cup, Mazda MX5 Cup, or the new Mustang Challenge. Could even have whatever Series they get like say Saturday they run Xfinity in the afternoon and run the sports car race at sunset to dusk. Cause sports car racing in a city heading into night is an absolutely beautiful sight. See GT World Challenge at Nashville Street Course and the 2023 race at St. Pete for example.

Better yet, if a track doesn't have lights, let's have a much earlier green flag time. If the green flag would have been 1 or 2, rather than 4:30, we probably would have had a full race.

I really enjoyed the race in total. Admittedly I hate fox coverage so I tend to over compensate with positivity for the NBC booth. But overall I liked it. The hard end time known well in advance gave additional drama, the swapped tire strategy and the favorites wrecking out all added to it. Side note: the shortened race I think helped the product overall.

Chicago supporting the race is a big plus for it to come back next year. Add in revenue, tv ratings, and better weather (God help us all), the Chicago street race can be successful

The good: Xfinity series race The Bad: 2nd Year in a row for bad weather and not seeing Nascar's best (SVG/Larson/Bell/Reddick etc) not racing for the win. Also Nascar officiating. We couldn't have competitive pits stops in wet weather one race but we can here? Stag breaks with a timer? Commmeee ooooonnnn... The Ugly: Who ever decided that Nascar's electric car should look like a Pontiac Aztek with a giant wing coming out the back. Can't wait for the "Crank it up" segment on this series...

The officiating is what pissed me off the most. There is absolutely no reason to run 5+ laps under caution. The street race is a big track, there should have been 2-3 laps under caution

9:24 respectfully, there is absolutely no chance that formula 1 will race at this circuit, it is probably not long enough and it will be too bumpy as well. Just have a look at some of the V8 Supercars street circuits and compare them to the formula 1 street circuits. The track is perfect for the likes of nascar and Supercars but not formula 1

Bring it back for sure. Take away the rain 🌧 from the CUP Race 🏁 and you have potentially as good a Race as you did in the Xfinity race 🏁. If SVG ever gets as good on the Oval as he is on the road course's, the top guys are going to have their hands full.

I never cared for the street race (there's enough road course races in my opinion), it just makes me think NASCAR is trying way too hard, and I'd rather have it be back at the circle track. Also get rid of the stages completely!

This might sound crazy but I think that the Chicago street race will get a third year & as a result it will last longer than the Vegas F1 race because of the city's support this year. NASCAR doing outreach to locals really helped in this regard which is the complete opposite of how F1 has approached their street race in Vegas. Nearly everyone in Vegas (apart from the big casino companies in MGM & Caesars) despises F1 mainly because they have completely destroyed the roads especially along the Strip & have created an absolute traffic nightmare for people. This has negatively affected people's ability to get to work (especially on the Strip) & make a living. Then there's the total lack of outreach by F1 to the local community. Even if they were hardcore F1 fans, many locals will get priced out of attending this year's race due to the high ticket prices. Add in there the absolutely late start time for the race due to ESPN prioritizing college football, the cold temperatures & the boring track layout & you have all of the ingredients for Vegas being booted off of the F1 schedule next year & being replaced by Malaysia (which is a much more exciting track).

I am not for Sunday night races. So many people have to get up early Monday morning for work so unless the next day is a holiday the next day (like the 600) they should not be doing it.

Yes, bring it back in 2025. Then move the street race to another city where there isn't even a track. Then let's have Chicagoland Speedway back in 2026. Let's see the trucks at Chicagoland Speedway in 2025 to get that broken in again.

I kind of liked it. The racing wasnt the best and the weather delays sucked, but theres still something so cool about Cup cars ripping down city streets! I would have never guessed it would happen, if you asked me 5, 10, 15 or 20 years ago.

was an extremely ugly move to keep it at a late time. 1p est start would have saved this race and would have run it full. Race needs to go to Chicagoland.

I think that the Chicago street race should have one more year. But let's move the date to somewhere else that isn't plauged by weather. If that doesn't work, then why not move to another market like Denver (Furniture Row Grand Prix would what I want the race to be called) or the Wyobraska area? And that's if Chicagoland Speedway won't come back.

It was an unlucky race. Xfinity race showed why it's worth persevering with this, though.

Another thing about Bowman winning this race is that he is usually terrible on road courses and here he was racing against a damn good driver in Hand at the end of stage 2.
