"it wasn't known as a safest place to be"... um yeah I've lived in toronto and nyc and i moved back to albania because I don't feel safe in the west with all the fentanyl addicts terrorizing pedestrians every day...... there is literally no square inch in Albania that's not safe or welcoming for tourists. Some neighborhoods may look scary but Albanians are not aggressors and they don't randomly rob people like they do in the west. Albania is unsafe when gangs clash with ONE-ANOTHER. Absolutely nothing to do with tourists though (it's more bad people who have problems with other bad people from within their own social circles)

I would agree with your statement. We felt pretty safe in all the places we visited in Albania, unlike how we felt in let’s say San Francisco or other major cities in US that also tend to have drug problems. Like any places there were a few shady characters that we were weary about but nothing sketchy happened. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for a honest review. Much remains to be done but we will get there , from being the most isolated country 30 years ago to hosting 10 million tourists ( with a 35 % increase year to year ) in 2023 much remains to be adressed and surely the infrastucture is on its limits ( for example the trash issue ) . But when seeing it from a bigger perspective , albania is succeeding on closing the tourism gab with its more established neighbours . This year too the preliminary data is suggesting a further increase. All the best from an albanian.

I loved your video and your sense of humour , specially the movie inputs made me laugh hard , for sure you got one more subscriber . It is true that some hollywood movies have given Albania a bad reputation which is only in the imagination of the hollywood creators , the truth is way way different. On the trash issue , indeed when i visit my homeland i notice trash on the roads or even worse in the nature , which breaks my heart , but i do believe that we can fix that problem in a national level , if people and goverment works together. I see that you traveled mostly to the south and the capital , if you enjoy mountains as you enjoy beaches you should visit the northern part of Albania , Thethi mountain , the Albanian Alps , Kruja , Shkoder and/or Gjirokastra&Berat. Also , about the road from Sarande to Vlora i honestly hope that our goverment does keep it this way and does not build a huge spiritless highway to destroy the beautiful landscape.

All in all a very realistic video with the good and the bad. Enjoy your travels!

Actually, English is spoken in Albania. Since most devices, services and media/content online is in English and rarely is in Albanian, a lot of albanians had to learn it. It's just that it mainly applies to the younger generation. The older ones are better at Italian.

It actually used to be called Ilirian peninsula and would have been nice to go to the original name and since it has a beautiful meaning to us Albanians that name it would make it even more beautiful but having a lot of Slavic neighbors I don't see that happening (Croats and Bosnians might be more open since they mixed with Ilirian more than other Slavs that came to the region so the might embrace it with joy but I can't see others doing it) since it is the South-East Europe it is still a fit name, Balkan is the name given by the Ottomans but I guess we are stuck with it, and we like it or not probably people are going to call it Balkan for the years and decades to come

Looking the other way wont solve the problem. If you have traveled abroad you will have noticed that indeed we are littering more than the average. We can accept this fact and change it or look the other way and blame someone for noticing. Of course municipalities should add thousands of small city bins across the city roads and much visited rural spots , but we should be more responsible as citizens and don't throw trash everywhere polluting our beautiful country.
