We love The Good and the Beautiful math. We are doing levels K, 1 and 2. All 3 of the kids love it as well. They get SO excited to play the games in the lessons and use things from the manipulative boxes. I love how it's laid out and believe it is a thorough program as well.

Thanks for sharing your review! I just ordered TGTB Math level 3 for my 3rd grader. We've been .... well, mostly me, have been struggling to get through Right Start math. And while I know it's a GREAT program, I've done a lot of research on it, and they are learning some great concepts I just can't seem to get through the lessons. The black and white throws me off, and it seems to take forever with lots of little pieces. I'm hoping this year a new approach will lead to a happier math experience for all.

We switched from Teaching Textbooks to TGTB Math a couple of months ago. So, so happy that we did it. My kiddos are really thriving on it.

We are using level K and level 2 for the first time this year. So far, we love it. My kinder girl loves it, even though it’s much easier than her ability. I am just going with the flow and letting her enjoy it, and get accustomed to doing “school.”

This review made me feel much better about using good and beautiful math level K with my daughter ☺️ I heard it was "dumbed down" as well and it made me worried. But like you said, you can always go up a level!

Those who complained about it being "dumbed down" could always just go up a level. It's great for kids who may have needed a slower pace. I've found it very age-appropriate. :) We also used the old level K math and loved it. I haven't found this to be much behind that level at all. There are just fewer moving parts.

We’ve not used the old version but we love the new version!!! My older kids aren’t up when we do school with my youngest but she loves independent work!!! We skip stuff when we can but not with my youngest daughter yet!!! We don’t go by grade level!!! The teacher is awesomely fun and my older kids love her teaching!!!

We tried the level K last year and it wasn't a great fit for us. It spiraled just a bit too fast. When we came back to a concept it was like my daughter had never seen it. The first until assessment was a disaster, and there was no extra info there to help me figure out what to do. We switched to Math with Confidence and used tgatb as review. I'm totally open with looking at tgatb for math again though. I do believe it's thorough and my daughter has such a solid number sense now (plus momma is much more confident in figuring out how to supplement!)

How’s the currency in the math? I only have math k. I’m in CANADA so wondering if it’s US based money talk.

It is US-based. However, there are still some money exercises that are able to be used. For instance, the dollar amounts are something we can work with. It's just the coins that aren't relevant to us. We've always taught money and finances outside of school curriculum anyway so it's more of a reinforcement for our kids than anything else. :)

Hi, I'm in Australia and haven't looked at TGATB Math, even though we use the Language Arts, specifically because of the metric/imperial measurement issues and also the different terms for money as well. Have you noticed this at all? Is it something you have to keep explaining to your kids that we do things differently etc?

They teach both metric and imperial measurements in their curriculum. :) You can also easily substitute your personal currency for many of the money lessons. We haven't found it to be an issue.
