Hello there, welcome to a new edit. A lot of people have been asking for tributes to The Governor aka Philip Blake (or Brian Blake). I've been wanting to make one for him, but I was always busy with other characters and lately I got a few complaints that I was making too many Rick Grimes videos, so I figured why not make a little video to the best villain The Walking Dead has seen. Yes I think The Governor is a better villain than Negan, Gareth, Joe and Alpha. You just couldn't like the governor on your first watch, that's how good of a villain he was.
When I first found this song I wanted to use it for The Governor, but ultimately went with Negan since he is more popular and gets more views. However I honestly don't care about views or anything anymore so I decided to just create something I enjoy rather than something that gets a lot of attention. I truly hope you'll enjoy it though (:

Good gracious, ignatius. We actually were able to hit the 10k subs mark! I'm so proud of this community right now. But this is but a mere victory in the wars to come! We are not done, no sir! If you think about it the governor won that final battle. He made Rick's life hell he ran them out of the prison. Even tho he died he still won

Yes, exactly! That's why I added his last line with "you can lose a lot of soldiers, but still win the game". The governor may have lost his life, but he had a solid victory on the prison; he completely broke rick and the group, leaving them forever scarred.

Kekker I’ve thought that for yrs. The Gov is the ultimate reason why good friendships and tragedies happened. I imagine if they all lived and Hershel and Michonne weren’t captured then they could have made the prison work for life and then Abraham and Eugene and Rosita would have come and asked for some ppl to go to DC w/ them but the Gov drove them out to Terminus. Glenn and Tara met Abe and his crew. Beth got taken by the cops at Grady memorial and then died and then after being on the road Rick and the Survivors made it to Alexandria and lived in some peace for some time then the wolves came and then Negan when he ultimately murdered Abe and Glenn and then the war and now the whisperers so in the end like you said the Gov won in the end even in death.

Gold3n Fight3r everything that’s happened after the prison outbreak has been caused by the governor he technically killed Glenn and Abraham if he didn’t attack the prison the group wouldn’t never lost Glenn Abraham bob ect but who knows maybe a horde wouldn’t caught up with them eventually

Not really his intention was to take over the prison for himself and his people but just destroyed it and lost all his people.

@Doomguy I also think Gareth was more than Governor and Negan as Negan needed people and Governor was mostly revenge driven to kill the Prison people, but Gareth and the Terminus freaks didn't care about anyone and they would brutally kill Elders and children, judging by the room filled with loot such as medals of honor and plush toys.

The fact that he went on that whole killing tirade makes me feel like he was destined to anyways, regardless of the loss of his daughter or not. its just who he is

Exact moment where the governor loses his sanity completely, and becomes a villain, the game already explained it, if Michonne had not killed the governor's daughter, everything would not have happened.

The Governor is still the greatest villain in both versions of TWD. It was a huge mistake killing him off when they did. Personally I would have ignored the prison battle, do a spinoff of him and Tara's family surviving for three seasons, have The Governor return during All Out War and make a truce with Rick. Just imagine The Governor's encounters with Negan and Alpha

Two sides of the same coin. He became a killer and lost his way of who he was. As Tyrese once put it. “It’s only getting worse out there. The dead are everywhere..and it’s only making the living…less like the living.” TWD has many moments of dark poetry like that-but the governor as a character is its embodiment of it

@@anthonyspitery6332 he only does that stuff when he’s in a position of power this is shown when he meets tara’s family and he just wants to help them to try and do some good he even eats dog or cat food instead of normal food to punish himself but when morales started saying that he wasn’t sure that he could keep the place safe he tried to leave because the Governor felt he had to be in a position of power for it to be safe he even said while killing morales that he “doesn’t want it” referring to when morales said that he might “share the power”and when pete offered him to help with leading and when he saw pete try to save the old man that put doubt in his mid the he tried to leave but then the road was blocked and then he felt if he couldn’t escape it he had to make it happen to keep Megan safe at least, The Governor is a bad person but Brian/ Philip isn’t. Also in the first war with Rick he was doing it out of revenge for his daughter who he thought might still be there but like he said himself “he just lost it”.

Thanks a lot! In my opinion the group was most entertaining to watch in seasons 3-6, with Hershel, Glenn, Merle, Tyreese and all the others. I love to go back to those seasons and rewatch some episodes every once in a while

Alpha’s Kill Count: 19 The Governor’s Kill Count: 43 Negan is far ahead of them and is responsible for 172 deaths. Check the Walking Dead Wiki. Remember those 130 Junkyard people that were killed by the saviors? Negan and Simon are responsible for those deaths. Even without those 130 deaths, Negan is still at 42 kills. But oh wait, of course YOU would think The Governor is the best at anything. It’s in your name!

Ya know, even though Rick had like, 8 more seasons than the Governor, the Governor still is responsible for more deaths. Rick: 42 Governor: 43 That just shows how much of a killer the Governor was back then, cause nobody even was responsible for 20 deaths at the time and here was the Governor doubling that, still a great amount today.

Liam Hawksworth I mean Negan pretty much beats the gov at everything. He's smarter, a better leader, more charismatic, hotter, and pretty much everything else. That being said, I'd much rather be in a room with Negan than the governor, the governor was way more intimidating.

As the pinned comment says, Philip truly won, sacrificed himself to make Rick and the Survivors, the rest of their lives miserable. Through thick and thin, thanks to the Governor, Terminus cannibalized Bob. Thanks to the Governor, Tyreese was bitten and was one of his last visions. Thanks to the Governor, Negan cracked Abraham and Glenn's skulls. Thanks to the Governor, Negan broke Rick Grimes, which is what he wanted the entire time. Also that parallel of Penny compared to Meghan truly shows how Philip changed throughout. Real nice edit, Kekker! Here's to 100K!

At the start he was a good man but he was weak and he didn't adapt, causing Penny's tragic death and that devastated him it caused a mental breakdown he went into denial. He never wanted to become a bad guy he was once as kind as Hershel but he was willing to sacrifice his morality if it would save his daughter, Philip tries to resist doing this again in S4 but history inevitably repeats itself.

Still the best villain on the show portrayed by one of the best actors. Thank you for this amazing video bro ;) All these scenes from season 3 and 4 are making me nostalgic XD. We all know how amazing this show is right now but goddamn, I miss the good old days with Hershel, Glenn, Merle and, hell, even The Governor :(

HOT DAMN that was epic!! I agree with what you typed in the description, the governor is the best villain in the show no question. Negan was a clown of a villain. Gareth and Joe were good but more so just other survivors rather than actual psycho villains. And Alpha is good but not quite as good as the governor. He was just bad to the bone, and the actor (can't remember his name) did a fucking fantastic job playing his character. But about the edit, it was really damn good man. Especially at 2:56, that part just slammed. Amazing work my friend, you never cease to impress me ^^

Negan ain't no clown. He used to be the most intimidating character. Alpha's only getting more badass with each episode. The s10e2 showed that she is a natural born survivor. Governor is my favourite TWD villian of all time but the other two ain't no joke. They just have different personality. Governor is a destroyer. Negan is a conqueror. Alpha is wildest, nastiest bitch. But whats common between them is that whatever they are doing they're doing it for the survival of their people.

I think he is definitely the best villain TWD has had. Negan isn't as much of a villain he was, since he tried to avoid killing people all the time. And I don't care too much about Alpha xD

The governor was an excellent villain, at least in my opinion. Start of with an excellent actor, he knew how to portray hate in such an excellent manner. I loved the deep character development over the 2 seasons, from a guy that tried convince himself he’s a savior, he’s right, and for a while he did, he was enjoying his life. When rick and the prison came in, his true self that he struggled to keep within, that evil in him came out, and it came out strong when he shot down his people. Season 4 is his attempt at doing that again, but again it goes wrong and he goes batshit crazy. Lastly, “the pulse” was amazing, made nearly all his scenes more intense. Negan is more enjoyable to watch, and he is a solid villain but sadly his war was executed poorly, so I’d personally say the governor had a better overall villainous arc.

We need to give credits for the Governor... Without him.. Rick wouldn't even be... Murder Rick... This Man and Lori is the cause.. why Rick became colder and colder.. until he saw Judith again in Season 5.. and if Michonne didn't take that Glass.. she would've been dead... And same for Rick

Hm... well done. I'm not a Governor fan, but I am a David Morrissey fan and he gave the character a depth I doubt he would've had otherwise. Also, excellent choice on the music. I haven't heard this version before, but it's fitting for his character and easily spooky enough for the time year.

It's crazy how when I first watched this season back in 2011 I was pulling for Rick and his group and wanted the governor to find redemption so bad, but after all these years now I get it... It took several years and society pretty much going to shit and my own tragedies for me to see things from his perspective. I guess maybe I've just lived long enough to become the villain? Now when I look at Rick I think he was just a self righteous fuck along with all those other people in the prison and in that community in Virginia (can't remember what that place was called). But even back then when governor busted Alvarez in his melon and fed him to the Walkers I thought "had to be done, he reclaimed a somewhat real life and was doing what he had to in order to keep it, no judgement on my part.."
