A hot hatch with 300 horsepower out of a 1.6L turbo engine, limited slip front & rear differentials, a drift mode and carbon fiber roof sound like something you'd find on a modded Subie STI, or a one-off creation from a European company after a few beers, but it certainly doesn't sound like the same company that makes the Camry, Prius and.. Corolla? Forget everything you know about Toyota's conservative past because it somehow doesn't apply in the GR world. This Corolla might look like a regular-old Corolla, but as always, looks can be deceiving...

You can’t get the Morizo edition. They are only making 200 of them. It is essentially vapor ware. In the unlikely event your dealer gets one, they will add a huge markup.

Yes you are right. They don't want to deal with the EPA penalties on the gas mileage I am betting. You are much more likely getting the other two trims. Toyota4Life is going to run to the dealer to prove you wrong and buy one of the 200 available (less than one per dealer in the USA).

Seems like a great hatchback. Sadly I believe the stearlerships are going to ruin this car for enthusiasts by tacking on stearlership markup making the GR Corolla unaffordable. Same thing happened back when the Focus RS came out in the states. Many buyers including myself were so off put by the markup I bought a completely different car from different brand

If only Toyota would've forbidden dealers from marking the car up and not nerfed production numbers on purpose (Yeah, Google it, they're limiting production on purpose so that the car stays more "exclusive" and hyped up.) I like the car, but I'm not about to drop near $60k for the base version with markups.

Alex and Brian, Toyota fans across North America will be breathing a huge sigh of RELIEF that a 100%, unadulterated Toyota sports car is finally back on the market. As GR Corolla supplies will be so tight, is there any chance Toyota might offer a FWD GT Corolla with a 203 hp 2.5 engine to go head to head with the GTI and Civic Si? With that extra exhaust pipe in the middle, how do you attach the trailer hitch? 😉BTW how many SUBSCRIBERS can name the other Corolla model on sale today that has no back seat? 🤔

Yeh. What use is the hype if you can’t get your hands on one at a reasonable price. I believe the manufacturers are creating the environment of scarcity to increase margins. This will not last, because those who who will, and can, pay more is limited. This is all good at a time of chip scarcity, but once supply lines come back into line, it could be too late to recover.

AWD performance on dry surface is pretty negligible 90% of the time. Unless you're racing someone from a dig or encounter gravel in your travels, it's pretty much a liability at the pump in most regards. I drive an Outback XT and an older Forte SX with one of the very first Hyundai 1.6 turbo engines they released in any product. The hatchback is much more fun to drive even though it's slower than the 2.4l in the Outback but the feel from the driver seat and manual makes it feel much faster. I can do 100mph in the Outback and not feel it but 100mph in the Forte, I'm definitely feeling the speed. It's not an indictment on the GR Corolla just that the AWD aspect isn't utilized until you need it.
@Dormmm
@Dormmm Жыл бұрын
Well the cool thing about the AWD system specifically in GRolla case is that you can change the power distribution. Say you wanted to hit a curvy touge road, hit it in 50/50 or maybe even 60/40. But challenger on the highway revving next to you? Slap it in 30/70 and go to town. It offers a lot more utilization in comparison y'know?

I don't follow your comment about the Golf R having a less advanced AWD system. While it is limited to sending 50% of the power to the rear as opposed to 30/70, it has a torque vectoring rear diff that can send up to 100% of that rear power to either wheel. ThrottleHouse actually had some nice demonstrations of how this actually provides a more RWD characteristic on track than the GR Corolla in actual driving situations.
