I have to just say how incredible this car has become. From the rich history it has developed, to then being one of the most affordable sports cars. The GR86 is just amazing.

Sweet boxer rumble... that's one thing I've loved about the STI... the unequal length header gives it that unique boxer rumble that sounds A....GGRESIVE as all hell when idling, at low rpm all the way to red line. Regular inline 4s sound weak compared

You should paint the white body panel under the tow hook black to blend/hide it with the rear trim a bit more.

I wish you went with Equal Length to be a lil different from everyone in KZfaq plus IMO it sounds better and "Hachiroku" that has subie Rumbles just seems kind of off. but that's just personal opinion it still sounds good!

Not sure if you have been there but theres an Initial D themed boba shop called Fujiwara Tofu Cafe in LA. Should go there to get some shots, would fit very well with the car.

It sounds great for unequal length headers. Ive noticed that the new subaru boxer engines dont have that boxer sound that everyone knows them for. I personally disliked the misfire subie rumble but this, this is good. 👍🏽

I got a Tomei UEL on my 22 BRZ with a defouler and it sounds wayy more rumbly under load. That cat is muffling SO much of the sound change you'd expect from most UEL headers. It sounds really close to stock to me tbh, catless UEL is def a much better audio experience, only thing I don't love is the cold start.

Going catless in California isn’t easy, unless you keep your stock header and change it back every time you get smog tested, and keep a tune for the stock header on. Shoulda gone with a ACE 350 equal length header, on the fa20 it saw massive torque gains over the UEL header while providing stronger top end as well. I’d argue those gains would be even bigger with the fa24…

Were the EL headers diameter bigger than the new UEL? I think i remember someone saying that the 1st gens headers fit, but they're a diffrent diameter. And would that be worse for the engine, Being smaller in diameter and UEL?

The diameter of each diameter looks very similar between the 2. EL’s are mainly better due to proper exhaust scavenging, meaning each exhaust pulse is equally spaced creating a vacuum in the collector helping draw each pulse out of the exhaust ports. I doubt there is any power gain with this header strictly due to the pulses colliding in the header, especially if it’s also running a CARB legal catalytic converter…

Just my purist opinion but the BRZ is the only one that should run an UEL!

No performance car should have a UEL. EL is the superior performance option. Throw a UEL on a fb20 Impreza or Crosstrek if you want the sound, since on an economy engine the difference will be nearly nonexistent

I loved this car from the start but now I see how dustin’s came out im sold on it. shooting for a gr86 to be my first sports car. looks like an easy build for an 18 year old to get started on.

@@keyshawnbirch that’s a lot of saving.. the only logical way to get a 22 BRZ/86 at that age is by financing which would honestly be a really bad decision unless somehow you’re making tons of money… you should honestly start with a cheap used car for a project until you get older and are able to afford a car of that price range

Loving the GR86 build! Absolutely agreeing with the catted setup. Last thing you want is to have a GR86 sound like an obnoxious Subaru. On the other hand, after the GR86 build, any progress on T's 240/280Z build?
