When you hear the word ‘genetic testing’, you may think about its medical uses, such as to diagnose genetic conditions. But genetic testing isn’t limited to the medical field. In this video, we look at some other important uses of genetic testing that you might not know about.
For example, genetic ancestry testing compares a person’s DNA to others from around the world to look for similarities which can predict things about their ancestry and heritage, such as their ethnicity.

Thanks for the interesting video OU. It would be great if you could do a deeper dive into the 'ancestry testing' bit that you briefly outlined around the 3 minute mark, particularly de-bunking the way the testing companies tend to represent it. For example, they'll often say that you're, for example, '20% Scottish', even though there are no genes for Scottishness.

If the people from 23 and Me are listed as my cousins, does it mean that they are related to me either from my mother's or father's family? The reason that I am asking because I do not see any relatives who match with or share the same surname and when I email them, they do not know.
