He raced 39 times, finishing in the money 17 times. Reporter George Mallet did a story on his birth in 2005, then snatched him off the racetrack in 2009. Here is Brahma Fear's pedigree: www.pedigreequery.com/brahma+fear

Brahma now lives with me in upstate New York (almost in Canada). He has developed into a quiet, sound but still athletic riding partner. I'm not a skilled trainer, but am doing my best to teach him the basics with the guidance of two instructors. The thing I have on my side is that he is so very smart and tries so hard.

So glad you have Brahma, he's smart like his Grandpa. Thanks for saving his life and teaching him new tricks. It's been reported that Secretariat would bring twigs to people at his paddock for them to throw and he would run get it.

Thank you for your humane work in saving these wonderful animals. Sad how they are in the limelight as long as they are making money for people, then cast aside just like the beautiful greyhounds from the track, many of whom go on to make wonderful family pets. I was lucky enough to be around to see Secretariat in his year of "glory". I never lost my enthusiasm for that wonderful horse. Looks like his grandson is just as great, wow, even won more races than grandpa! :)

I checked out your horse's pedigree and saw his picture. He looks a lot more like Big Red than my guy does. Brahma takes after the Danzig, Northern Dancer side of his pedigree... lean and bay. My guy didn't retire from racing until they had about run him into the ground. He was racing every two weeks toward the end and raced a total of 39 times... most of those races before his 4th birthday. But, he is sound and fit now. He is the quietest horse in a barn filled with quarter horses :D

54Farm, Thanks for watching. The thoroughbreds all have amazing pedigrees... the fast ones are the ones that get to have babies. I just wish they all could have homes when they are done at the track. I got lucky with this one. He is a smart, quiet and fun horse. Of course, he remains plenty fast!

That is great that you saved that little guy!!! OTTBs can make great horses whatever you want to do with them!! I have 2 OTTBs Whoopsnotme and Regal Relaunch both have been every bit as good a horse as I could have ever hoped for!!! They have done 4-H gaming and showmanship, summer camps for kids, given kids of all ages their first ever rides, some riding lessons and they love to go for trail rides!! You can do whatever you want with them and they seem very read to learn! Both are so soft to ride it’s has been just a joy owning them!! Please anyone thinking of getting a horse please consider a OTTB!! There are so many in need of good homes and someone to love them so please consider one!!!!!

How about that! And I own a grandson of secretariat, his name is Hollywood Vic, son of Academy Award who was son Of Secretariat. He had to retire from racing due to an injury..that is when I purchased him! OTTBs are awesome sport horses.

He didn't win more races... he merely entered more races. He earned about 80k in 39 races and was in the money in 17 of them. He was racing at a much lower level than grandpa, though.

I have a Secretariat mare needs a home. Secretariat top and bottom Northern Dancerr, Storm Cat, Seattle Slew Slew of Gold, Buck Passer, Cigar, General Assembly. I reduced her from slaughter, but dont have a suitable place. Too small. I want to place her with someone who can see she doesnt end up in the abused starved slaughter bound place she came from. Her registered name is Stormy Elaine. Shes a 2006 mare big red and a white stocking on the front left and a blazed face. Tatooed unraced. Registered with the jockey club. She turned 15 Feb 19th. I want to give her to the right person. I've done what I can but it's not ideal. Needs ground work. I know nothing about her except shes out of a Texas Breeder. Is listed in the 2006 Texas foal book. Secretariat top and bottom her strongest lineage lists Secretariat. Shows no races no foals but that's not accurate shes been on the lamb for years. I know she was starved had cuts and headed to slaughter. If someone could help me place her I would surrender her.

He looks much more like the Northern Dancer side of his pedigree. He is fast though. Was in the money 17 times and ran three times as many races as his grandpa.
