Every year I come here on my birthday as I only live a few miles away. I like to walk the track on through the ford just down the lane which is lovely for sailing pond yachts with the children and taking picnics. The lane through the ford goes on toward his cottage at clouds hill, a lovely walk in the footsteps of TEL. All very special. Thank you for posting.

Hello from Australia Rufus. Many thanks indeed for an absolutely BRILLIANT presentation on Lawrence of Arabia. I first learned about Lawrence on or about 1960, and took my very first girlfriend (A Yorkshire girl) on our first date to the cinema in Melbourne to see that great film Lawrence of Arabia. Many years down the track (I married a different girl) who was also fascinated with Lawrence. Following the birth of our children, our oldest son also became fascinated by Lawrence and no need to tell you; every 3 months or so; we'd watch the video of that film. In 1998, I visited the UK to catch up with relatives and a cousin's father who was a doctor at Oxford University; took me on a tour of that university. The one thing I needed to see was the Chapel in which Lawrence worshiped at Oxford. I took several photographs of the bronze bust of Lawrence in that Chapel and still have it with me to this day. I am sorry my time in England was limited to Three months but I had to get up to Scotland and Eire to visit relatives and other battle fields. I wish I had time to visit the grave of Lawrence and pay my respects. Many thanks for your video which is very appreciated.

Thank you very much for a very good video. There is one further site you could have included. At one time, I understand, it was intended that TEL should have a tomb in St Paul's. Obviously this idea was stopped by someone pretty high up. The tomb was to have an effigy of TEL in white marble laying in full Arab dress. The full size model for this effigy is now in the little chuch in Wareham and is a stunning sight. The church is on high ground to the left as you enter Wareham from the north. Also keep an eye out for TEL's 'favourite seat' in the bar of the Anglebury House Hotel. Thank you again for the video.

very interesting, id always assumed he was buried in st pauls, i was planning a bike trip to take in a few of these sites, now amended to include the grave. i was in Aqaba a few years ago and managed to find a few sites close to where he took a few pictures. i also tried his diet were he survived on coffee and dates lone, i lasted a few hours.

The actual site of the crash is not commemorated. The site is actually on the opposite side of the existing road which was created during WW2. The old road where the crash took place now MOD land.

I was told by my father that Laurence of Arabia had been a school teacher in Davidson road croydon where my father came from the army was looking around for any photos of him as they did not want them in German hands

He was a thrill seeker, I did that run from London to Bournemouth to my mother in-law apartment at night so no traffic 90 to A 100 all the way Moden roads.under 2hours. He was further in land dorset You would have to be a mad man with a death wish to have reach outer London in that time in 30s. He died how he lived ,FAST. What a date devil ,A great man.

There is a stand in The Tank museum dedicated to him.

He didn't pass away at that place, he died in hospital a few days later. He was fatally injured at or near that place. Very often people that did not witness accidents tell a different story to witnesses , especially in the case of famous people, a good example was the Princess Diana accident. Apart from that, good.

If you go into nearby Moreton Tea Rooms the funeral bier that carried Lawrence to his eternal rest is used as a cake stand. Combine that with a day at Bovington Tank Museum and you'll have a day to remember.

The war was won by the armies,usually 7-8 times bigger than that of the Turkish, he just helped the British buy the Arabs with gold and silver so that they did not fight for the Turkish but against them, details of which are available in the British archives in Kew, there was a documentary on the BBC years ago in which they followed on his footsteps based on his war diaries and they concluded that the events he told in his diaries would have been impossible to achieve physically and that he made them up including his story that he was raped by the Turkish commander, as it was alleged that he was gay and he had an infatuation for Arab men, I am sure the BBC still have a copy of their documentary from 15-20 years ago and perhaps if there was enough interest, they might reshow it.but thank you for the video, it is always very moving to visit their final resting place regardless.

If you ever look - up the bicycle pictures that one of the lads was riding ,it certainly looks like it was hit by a larger vehicle than a motorcycle ?. The rear end of the bike is completely flattened ,the tire ripped off & the innertube exposed - hardly a "clip" even by the heavy Brough . Makes you wonder if a car was involved .

I have a small connection with Lawrence my grandfather’s uncle was his Batman and before I was born we news journalists at my grandparents house asking about him and if he was gay, and supposedly there was some letters but my Gran denied it and she has passed away some 6 years ago now,but also I’m not sure when he was his Batman but we think it was after the war, I can remember talking to my gran about this and now it’s not shocking in this day and age for him to be gay but she still wouldn’t talk about it but that’s a different generation and things like that just wasn’t mentioned , but that’s as much as I’ve ever known about it

Great video, thanks. But, Lawrence was all in on the plan to carve up the Middle East. He openly admits this his writings. The movie has him openly opposing this move, but it's fiction to make the movie more tense and interesting. And, it does. Also, the fact that he never left the military shows his support.
