Mr Cheshire is a huge loss to mankind and the human race. Where have we lost the way. Very sad 🙁

My wife’s Grandfather flew with him. Said he was no nonsense at the briefings. Same as the missions. straight in straight out. He was also a fellow Flight Engineer with Norman Jackson in 106 squadron at Metheringham. Wish he was still around to talk to.

Yeah I was at Metheringham on the anniversary of the flight Jackson took to earn his VC. His os one of only two UK VC Bomber command graves I have not made it to.

You said Cavendish in Surrey think you mean Suffolk . Thanks for putting this up, have paid my respects to Group Captain Cheshire & his wife. Cavendish is only 15 miles from my home .

He flew a Mustang single seater, a Mosquito was a twin engine crewed by a pilot and navigator

Heroes like Cheshire and Gibson who hold a special place in history should be buried in s special cemetery that is open to the public. Cheshire was a special breed of man that we would all like to emulate. He was humble, generous, modest, self effacing, . HE HAD IT ALL IN SPADES. To say that he was amazing is an understatement.

I was fortunate enough to talk to his son and daughter at the. 75th anniversary of the Dambusters. I have some great photos of me wotntthe offspring of other legends too. I just kept looking at Elisabeth and Jeremy and saying, but your dad was Leonard Cheshire....THE Leonard Cheshire. He is a God! They must have thought I was mental

@@dangerousdavecox I agree with you about the greatness of Leonard Cheshire. Guy Gibson I admire, but amongst the other ranks, he was often an arse. I don't see them as equal, despite him adoring his dog - and I adore dogs and run a rescue. Nicholas Winton is another hero we share. Do you know the amazing shared story of Joe Herman and John Vivash? One of the most extraordinary luck stories of the war? How modest is Cheshire's grave. Like the man himself. I actually shed tears over this. Thank you for gushingly telling so much of LC's wonderful bravery, charity, kindness... I gush as well. LC deserves all the honours of war, and the equivalent AGAIN for his actions post war. Guy Gibson was extremely brave. I would not take any of that away from him, but LC is on another planet . Bravery and a humble heart that just gave without hesitation. I had the opportunity to meet LC in Australia - but was too shy. I literally quaked at the thought of being so pushy. I mourn the lost opportunity - but it would have felt like asking for an appointment with 'God'. (I am an atheist). I knew I would be delirious to meet him - and so value it - but what would he get from meeting me? Nothing but a lost 5 minutes. I so wish I could have met him, got my book signed, but I still think I would never ask to meet him, because I am not worthy. I understand your excitement, I loved all the stories you could rattle off. I think you did a great job in this short video - and LC would have shaken his head, looked a bit embarrsssed and murmered, "Very kind if you."

I currently work for LC in Gerrards Cross. His empire has been ravished by rules and pointless red tape. Ive lost all hope in the human race as we know it.

I think you have your planes mixed up. A Mosquito was a British two engined aircraft. If aircraft was an American single engine I am thinking must be a P51 Mustang 🤔
@dangerousdavecox Жыл бұрын
Yeah I realised after I had uploaded it. He had a Mustang from the yanks he used in the roll as master bomber.
