Day 5 and so the journey begins south for the GB XI. Jubilee 45699 'Galatea' lead the B1 1264 back over the highland mainline to Perth where the B1 was detached for Galatea to run solo down to the lake district via Stirling and the WCML.
The weather was a significant improvement from the Kyle day, with glimpses of the sun in the highlands. That was until the train hit the border and rain characterized the northern fells back to Oxenholme. But never the less the due made a fine run over the highlands once again with no hold ups, and Galatea also made good time on her solo run.
We will catch up with the tour after it's break in the Lake District as it heads into the southern counties for its final few days and return to London. Hope you enjoy!
