I was just talking about this with my brother. The Blights didnt exploit the Champion's weaknesses, they overwhelmed the Champion's strengths. Gannon really came out swinging. He really is evil

Something that always made me wonder is why Link and Zelda decided to go to Fort Hateno. From Zeldas perspective, it's far away, not a good defensive position and crossing all the vast empty spaces would be dangerous. Links perspective is similar, except that being Zeldas personal knight and previously being a Captain of the Royal Guard, if he arrived at Akkala Citadel, he would have been in control of a large force of Hylian soldiers and artillery. Then looking from the perspective of the future (BOTW), Akkala Citadel would still have been rapidly encircled but with the combination of high power artillery, the Hylian military, the Master Sword and Zeldas power, there's a genuine chance that the Citadel would have stood, but after taking a huge beating. Akkala Citadel would be more useful too, there's larger areas for food storage, it garrisons more soldiers and it could house more refugees than Hateno Village. Strategically, Akkala Citadel was the better choice but even if the involved parties knew the options and their advantages, the choice would be between the massacre of civilians at Hateno Village or the massacre of the Hylian military at Akkala Citadel

Interesting how Ganondorf seems to have been put in a "green stasis", just like Link did for 100 years before Breath of the Wild, but in a "blue stasis". We do know there is a "golden time-like-stasis" from the the sequel trailer, but I wonder if there's a "red stasis"...

Yes, it is too bad that we don't have a game like this just yet and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity does not count for it but I hope that Nintendo will give us a Breath of the Wild Prequel after they are finished with Tears of the Kingdom.

I would like the Breath of the Wild Prequel to not be a game. Because a game where you can't win, well it defeats the purpose of a game. There must be a win-lose condition.

I wonder why Calamity Ganon didn't corrupt the Shrine of Resurrection, in the time that Link was placed there and before Zelda reached Hyrule Castle? Unless he was unaware the facility existed, or didn't have enough time.

Probably had no idea it existed, plus even if he tried, the facility is inside a cave, so the malice would not reach the inside and be plastered on the cliffs outside

Well, this is my theory as to why, but I think it's because he could only corrupt objects with some kind of control unit. All the Divine Beasts have main control units and I imagine the guardians have something similar as well.

Everyone seems to overlook the fact the calamity took place over 3 days not just one. It ends on the third day when zelda seals ganon

3 days? It's likely less, 1 and a half days at most. The calamity starts on the evening of Zelda's birthday. The battle of Fort Hateno happens at night. Zelda gets to Korok Forest to return the Master Sword during daytime of the next day, and seals Ganon in the evening/night of that same day.

I wish we knew what Impa was doing in the BOTW timeline. In AOC she acted sort of as a guard to Zelda like Link, but she isn't in any memories.

Impa was the royal advisor and in charge of the Sheikah technology research. She was the one who presented Zelda to Purah and Robbie.

@@ZeldaLore Oh, that makes sense! I guess she did more in AOC just for gameplay purposes, similar to how Link pulls the master sword with Zelda instead of at the age of 12-13. Thanks for clearing that up!

I view the entire events of this version of Hyrule calamity a very unlucky development. We know they had those ancient, Hyroglyph like texts which made them so confident in the ancient Shika-tech automatas. Everybody would have deduced they might work again. But sadly - they made the innitial calamanity MUCH WORSE since they were hacked and stolen instantly. What a nightmare. Dunno how strong the "traditional calamity" would have been if not for the Shika-automata's? In the alternate timeline of *'Hyrule Warriors - Age of Calamity'* we were shown that the evil catastrophe of nature called Ganon, was able to summon forth monsters almost infinitely. That means even without the Shika-automata's, the capitalcity was probably going to fall anyways. Since it makes sense the calamity spawns them right from around itself. And with its own proxmity appearance right above the center of the castle... well - tough luck. And thanks to the *'Breath of the Wild 2'* trailers there is more! Now we have reason to think the calamity in itself was actually incomplete. Crippled maybe? Or even more empowered? It had no human or rational mind for that manner. But why? *BECAUSE* its humanoid vessel & shape had survived the ages, burried & partially sealed deep below the castle. That means only his monstrous energy and it's famous 'malice' itself could break out. It shows the seal was not unable to contain its demongodly aspect. Only the mortal shape the calamity liked to take on in each incarnation. The question remains: Did this made the current calamity weaker, or not stronger after all? Imagine even Zelda's °cough° _"laterbloomer awakening"_ ;))) would have not been as disastrous maybe - if the calamity would have had a more humanoid host & form. Maybe then it would have been much more incapable to summon those endless hordes of monsters? ( Even Lynels. Holy sh~ika! :D ) But it had an easier time bringing forth monsters(?) because it was so much more primal a monster itself, during this circle? Questions over questions. A pity we probably will never know.

corrupted guardians would have been used either way, as the pillars that rise around Hyrule Castle that deploy the guardians, those would have been corrupted instantly, being deployed in the thousands. in fact, the majority of guardians that attacked Hyrule were those to begin with, the others were excavated. Ganon wouln´t have turned the divine beasts though, as they were underground, so that reduces the damage.

@@ZeldaLore Makes sense. Yes those pillars that rose up around the castle, those "guardian dispensers" ( hehehe ) looked corrupted from the very beginning. In other words the Guardians would have been deployed against all non-monsters anyways. Never noticed that until now. Well - not that the calamity needed them. The stolen weapon of it's enemys added more insult to injury as being a needed key to victory. And regarding the Titans, they too were deactivated deep under the surface. Makes me wonder if they too would have made an entrance after all, since when the calamity is smart enough to rise the guardian-dispenser pillars, why not infect the Titans sooner or later just the same? But with a time-delay window probably? ... which would also not matter. ^_^ This Hyrule had the most horrible calamity of all times. We were never really shown the devastation that much in other Zelda-games I feel. So far we knew people were always attacked by monsters, or worlds were twisted in darker variants of their former self. But never did the clash felt so physical & involving every Hylian in this magnitude. Ultimately I am thinking this partially sealed & partially unleashed calamity was mightier. It would have just flooded everything with Monsters endlessly until there was not a single place to hide anymore. Also interesting to see they march as one always. Even though the Monsters too are different, very savage races. Maybe they do not like each other and would fight over supremacy sooner or later? But somehow they know they are all serving the same master & goal so they do not kill each other.

@@FreedomAndPeaceOnly Ganon didn't raise the pillars, they were programmed to rise upon the return of Calamity Ganon. The Divine Beasts would have been unaffected as they would not be in direct contact with Malice bring underground.

@@ZeldaLore WHAT? XD OH MY HYLIA - are you sure?! ^^ They were *programmed* to rise up? Are you sure? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH - that means the Shika's automatic system deployed him with additional weapons?! LMAO - what a disaster! ^_^ But about the Titan's we cannot be sure. We saw that "Malice" could become intelligent, if in contact with a Shika-automata. Probably because the automata's themself had the capacity of having AI and the like. The overturned Terrako too has shown capable of clever scheming and careful operating in secrecy. And we know Terrako could activate the Shika-towers. This adorable egg-buddy knew stuff! It knew about the networks & blueprints of the ancient Shika's. 10/10 sooner or later it might have located the Titan's too via scanning when looking for survivors that _"it"_ wanted death, as a newly remade part of Ganon.

@@FreedomAndPeaceOnly Well, the plan was that when the towers arose, the Guardians would aid Link and Zelda by guarding them from the monster hordes that were sure to be attacking. That's how it happened during the Calamity 10,000 years previously. However, CG corrupted the Guardians before they could be unleashed, depriving Link and Zelda of their most numerous allies. Also, the malice itself isn't intelligent. It requires near constant instructions from CG in order to properly function. We know this as fact. When Zelda contained CG for those 100 years, the Guardians became aimless and only attacked those foolish enough to come in close proximity and the Divine Beasts became relatively dormant. It's stated in game that before Link awoke, other people would regularly gain entry to Castle Town and the castle seeking treasure. It was only as Zelda's hold over CG began to weaken just before Link woke up that the Divine Beasts and Guardians became more active. That is due to CG being able to communicate with them again. We also know that CG was sending instructions to those he corrupted through malice. If you listen to the music inside the Divine Beasts, you can hear him sending Seek and Destroy orders to his Blights. It is a reasonable assumption that he was sending similar commands to the corrupted Guardians.
