And God informed the Qur’an of this by saying: “Did you think that we created you without a purpose and that you would never return to us?” ‏All these and other matters that I have not mentioned indicate that this is a prophet from God..More important than that, as I told you, is the only religion that commands you to worship one Creator, who created everything and before him many prophets. ‏Say, if you wish, there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God ‏ speak from the heart ً

I was lucky enough to meet him one on one when I interviewed him for my PhD in his at the NY Planetarium. This was before he became famous. Out of the twenty astronomers and astrophysicists I interviewed he was the nicest and most generous with his time. Lovely guy.

I miss Dr. Hawking, but Dr. Sagan made me FEEL how awesome science is... one of my favorite things Sagan said was something to the point of, we're made of the same things as stars, we are the universe experiencing itself - that made me look at things differently from then on

@@DaBeav420 I very much miss Carl Sagan as well, and to celebrate his poise, aplomb and dignity I'd like to point out that his awesome, revelation of "we are star stuff" was actually first given solid evidence by Fred Hoyle who while otherwise an incredibly brilliant scientist was so blindly driven by not only science but the distraction of fighting religion, that he coined the pejorative "Big Bang" and doggedly held on to Steady State until he dies around ~1980. By fighting Religion we lend it importance it no longer earns and hasn't earned for over a century. It had it's time but that time is at an end and left to itself will simply "die on the vine" lending further evidence to "survival of the fittest". Fighting it especially with any degree of passion only prolongs it's continued existence. If Dawkens,, Krauss et al are the MalolmX and Huey of the movement, Carl was the Martin Luther King, Jr a true gentleman and scholar as well as the premier ambassador for Science. Thankfully Neil carries himself with similar dignity even if he does rather enjoy being a Rock Star.
