The Great Italian Skylight of the State Hermitage Museum
There are three such halls in the Hermitage: the Small Italian Lumen (No. 237), the Large Italian Lumen (No. 238) and the Small Spanish Lumen (No. 239). A space for various kinds of events in one of the main halls of the New Hermitage. It is called the lumen, as it has natural overhead lighting due to the glass on the ceiling. This room houses a collection of Italian paintings of the XVII-XVIII centuries. These are the works of famous masters Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Antonio Canaletto and Luca Giordano. The hall is also decorated with products of Russian stone carvers of the XIX century, and the vaults are decorated with stucco arabesque patterns covered with gilding.
