@@JamesDeanRivera It's a great question one in which theory would have been if Koufax was healthy. His pitched incredibly well with a painful arthritic elbow his last several years....now let's say he was healthy and hung around and had that juice against Reggie. I think it would have been epic and I think he would have gotten Reggie but......I wouldn't have been surprised if Reggie got him as well...leaving Lasorda counting even more Reggies rather than sheep. Great question and ohhh would have been great!

I was thinking the same thing. He loved hitting home runs in Dodger Stadium. It was like homefield advantage for him.

But was it because of the stadium or being in the clutch situation that made the difference. If he was just playing regular season games there as opposed to the World Series maybe he doesn't hit any better than he does in any other ballpark.

The home runs off Tommy John and Bob Welch either hit the back of the bullpen, the divider, or cleared the enclosure altogether. I could never find verification of the measurements. At that point, only Wilver Stargell had ever hit a home run completely out of Dodger Stadium ⚾

I remember that like it was yesterday or 6 minutes ago. I was pulling for that special veteran bunch of Angels to finally get to the World Series at last. I wanted so much to see that 40 yrs young Mr. October in the World Series one more time. It would have been great That would have been something - that 86' Angels squad against the young 86 Mets team.

When the Angels had the Red Sox one out from elimination, I just had this strange premonition that the Red Sox were not done. Henderson was at the plate and I thought he might hit a double to, at least, tie the game; but he knocked it out of the yard to silence the Disneyland faithful. I know that, to this day, Bobby Grich still gets choked up about the game and, especially, about Donnie Moore.

I don't know if any of the videos are still available, but there was a list of 20-25 greatest baseball games and, of course, game 5 of the '86 ALCS was one of them. Bob Costas was on the panel and both Bobby Grich and Dave Henderson were guests providing their commentary and perspectives. Costas notes after the Red Sox' second out in the top of the ninth of that game, 'So now Mauch HAS to pull Witt...' because Gedman was coming up and he was the hot batter for Boston in that game.

Henderson's HR gave the Red Sox the lead. Angels rallied and tied it. It was Henderson's Sacrifice Fly in the 11th that gave Boston the lead and the win.
