The Great Orme Tramway in Llandudno North Wales 27/07/2017.

The weather forecast for today was that there would be heavy showers and strong winds, so we tried our luck and made for the Seaside Town of Llandudno in North Wales, to ride on the World famous Great Orme Tramway.
Apart from the extremely strong wind on the summit, the sun shone and the views across the area were stunning.
The jorney is in two parts, with a change half way up the climb.
It was opened in 1902, and is only remaining cable-operated street tramway in the UK, and one of only a few surviving in the world.

Me and my younger family went to Llandudno a few years back and never got to go on the tram or cable cars because the queue was absurdly long. It’s nice to get to see this POV to see the stunning views of the Great Orme. One day we’ll get to visit again post Covid restrictions are fully lifted and all the panic booking stops

Thanks Dave, on a fine day it's spectacular, but I wouldn't fancy it on a wet day, it get's very exposed on the top....a wonderful and quite unique experience...Regards...Bob

You need fine weather Chris, as the views are incredible...although yesterday, we could hardly stand with the strong winds blowing over the Orme...Regards...Bob

Wow that took me back to when the children were young and we used to go up there to spot butterflies Bob. Looks like there's been plenty of work on the quarry buildings. I thought it noticeable how clean and tidy everything looked - even the public roads at the bottom. Thanks for sharing another great video. Take care - Chris

It's an unique experience Chris, the winf at the top was very strong and it was difficult to stand still up there, but a great experience. We also drove around it on the toll road, which was another great experience...Best wishes...Bob

Me neither Austin, tries last Sunday, but couldn't find anywhere to park in Llandudno, so we tried afain and got lucky....One of those facilities you just have to do when visiting the area ...Bob

We tried on Sunday Dave and gave up because we couldn'tfind anywhere to park...it's been a long time since we've been on this Tramway, so it was great to finally do it again....Bob

You've been very lucky with the weather on your tour! Impressive workshop facilities they've got, though interesting that it's right at the top, which must be a bit inconvenient sometimes.

We have indeed Andrei, although today I got soaked whilst out videoing. It appears that the Tramway had a grant to improve the facilities, and although strange, the Trams and equipment are are located up on the Orme....Bob

Hi, Both myself and my husband have been on the tramway many times and we find it a lovely trip to and fro, if you go to the café on the top of the Orme they sell cream cakes and omg they are beautiful

A must do when you visit llandudno. The views at the summit are truly breathtaking 😍. It is quite emotional (especially when you live in the Midlands😔😔😔

Hi Bob, it was a while since we did not write. Anyway I'm here. Beautiful this tram: the first part of the route is a cog or subway cable from which the tram can get out when it has to wait for the crossing of the uphill (or downhill) car? Beautiful and scenic the second part that, from what I could see, is definitely with funicular type transmission. All right? We were amazed that it stayed sunny for our visit Steve, but the wind on the top was unbelieveable....I did di some videoing, but I just couldn't keep the camera steady.....We went on to the Llanberis Railway in the afternoon, and that will be my next upload later today....Best wishes from Sunny North Wales...Bob

Looks familiar Bob, I knew this would be on your itinerary but at least you rode it and I enjoyed the ride with you as all my recent footage was external shots although we did enjoy the cable car. Have been on the team twice, first time with hubby so windy at the top we could hardly stand up. Second with daughter and her fiance, son and his wife and their daughter.,that was a beautiful day, well worth it,

It's a must if you visit Llandudno Diane, it does get very windy at the top of the Great Orm, but the ride and the stunning views are well worth it....Best wishes...Bob

Robert Masterman certainly was worth it. We just love North Wales. If you ever get a chance at walk up the Dinorwic slate mines are worth the effort, very atmospheric.

Robert Masterman Worth a look if you are interested in the area. You can see a lot without having to climb, there is a good path to walk on. My mum was from South Wales,
