Unfortunately nowadays it's starting to get hard to find family movies because Hollywood is trying to ruin them with homosexuality, transgender, devilish things, to indoctrinate our children😢 I don't care who you wanna be. I wish Hollyweird would Just leave the kids alone.

One of my favorite movies as a kid. No one used John Candy's talent better than John Hughes. He really saw beyond just the comedy ability to Candy's true and usually untapped talents. Only the Lonely really showcases what Candy is capable of as a leading man and we see that potential for preformances with depth in certain scenes here as well. What a great talent Candy was and what a great writer John Hughes was.

Candy played believable three dimensional characters... So many "comedy" actors overplay things and can be annoying. And yes Hughes really knew how to play to John's strengths.

The actress playing the wife of John Candy is absolutely hysterical. She is so funny and is an actress who deserved more and better roles than she was given. Whatever she did she was a joy to watch. You'll recoginze her as Max's mom from Hocus Pocus. I love her to pieces.

Absolutely a classic! Love this movie. Summer Rental is also a great Candy film. 😂 In upstate New York, especially in the central Adirondacks, it was quite common to go to the local dump to watch the bears. We use to go all the time visiting Piseco Lake except we didn’t throw Zagnuts to the bears. Lol Great times growing up in the 70s and 80s.

I cant imaging going through life without John Candy in it. There's not a single movie he's been in regardless of the size of the role that I don't adore. I have read a story of some movie that he was on(I can't remember which one)where he showed up and the backstage crew thought that he was a new hire for the crew and asked him to move some heavy objects around. Instead of having a major ego-trip("Don't you know who I am. I could have you fired."),he happily helped out and didn't try to embarrass the crew members. Very humble and easygoing guy.

The Great Outdoors was a "classic". Sure, it isn't going to win an Academy Award, but it was a lot of fun with lots of laughs. I remember seeing my first bears in the great outdoors at an open pit dump in the UP of Michigan. I thought is was great, but my sisters freaked out because the bear was next to our car. Never saw a guy on crutches move so fast when he got too close to some cubs and the mama bear didn't like it! And in the Great Lakes region, yellow perch are considered a delicacy. They may not be big, but they are delicious.

June 1988: I spent my birthday at Bass Lake, where this movie was shot. My father wanted to be the cool dad, so he showed us how to use a rope swing. The rope snapped on the way down, and he hit 3 inches of water, breaking his back for the second time on a birthday of mine. I always remember that story when I think of this movie. P.S. I got a bicycle for my birthday that year after the trip in the ambulance.

Another 80s comedy you both might like is Spies Like Us, starring Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase. As for Tarantino, there is no way to ease into his movies. Most of us discovered him from watching Pulp Fiction, and i would advise that is also where you two should start. His movies are violent and gory (although sometimes the overuse of violence and gore adds an almost comical touch)but always an interesting and fun ride. There is nothing to fear from Tarantino movies and you will love the ride.

@@faithnyou1732 No, you're both wrong. Pickett came up via NYC's Atlantic Records, recording in Muscle Shoals, AL and Memphis, TN, with the The Swampers and Booker T. and the MGs. Motown was based in Detroit at the time. He didn't make a record for Motown until 1987. Many, many other influential Black R&B artists in the '60s and '70s came out of that area along the Mississippi: Otis Redding, Percy Sledge, The Staple Singers, Sam and Dave, Isaac Hayes, etc. _Motown_ is not a generic term for R&B/Soul music from the '60s. Every successful studio had its own "sound" and house players, from LA to Philadelphia, to NYC. Motown was a just a part of that tapestry. An important part, but just a part.

Goodday, Jay and Amber! Hope you all are having a great weekend! I HIGHLY recommend y'all watch/react to "Leon: The Professional" (1994). It stars Gary Oldman, Natalie Portman (who played Padme in the Star Wars films), Jean Reno, and Danny Aiello. This is one of the best movies ever made!

The ending dance song is from the great Wilson Pickett, "Land of a 1000 Dances". Also listen to "Midnight Hour" from him.

You should watch Dan Aykroyd in Driving Miss Daisy. Completely flips the script. It's a GREAT movie with Morgan Freeman. And I'm not sure, but have you seen vacation? It just reminded me when you said the luggage falling off the roof. Also, John Candy in Splash. Not sure if you've seen that one yet.

When I was a kid in Michigan we would vacation in the Upper Peninsula. There was no tv, radio, and obviously no cellphones. Every night at sunset we would drive to the dump, turn on the headlights and watch the bears. That was our #1 form of entertainment.

Yeah Guys, when I was a kid we went to northern Wisconsin every summer for vacation. When I was little we did the dump thing watching the bears dig through the garbage with a ring of cars around the high side with the headlights on. There was a pinball arcade on main street and go carts and mini bikes on the edge of town. Horse riding stables and places to rent boats and all kind of stuff. Going fishing with the small boat that came with the cabin. We usually used worms for bait but sometimes we would get leeches or minnows. There was and probably still is a place called Paul Bunyans that the restaurant in the movie is imitating. That was in the 60's and 70's. Everything has changed. You can't get into the dump unless you can prove you're a local resident, the arcade is gone, and the town has traffic lights and a mall. There was a stop sign at each end of town when I was a kid. And yes when I reached high school age I had a Cammy only she was staying at the same resort, not a local girl. Plus it was a three room cabin with a wood stove for heat not a two story lodge.

John Candy and Dan Aykroyd at their finest. Absolutely brilliant. If you like this, you will enjoy films by Savage Steve Holland, mainly One Crazy Summer and Better Off Dead. Another John Candy "vacation" movie you would like is Summer Rental.

Been a sub here for only about a month and have watched about 20 or so of their reaction vids. Something is a miss here with this one. I'm only 14min in and it seems like they cut out the funniest scenes, that they were reacting to and left partial nothing-scenes. They haven't done that before. I don't know anything about YT vid-editing but did they accidentally dump their good clips or something and may have rushed to get this one out?? It just seems all out of whack and out of context. My wife had to ask me what was funny about the two brothers in the bunkbeds and she asked me what Amber meant by "Suck My Wake", cause they didn't show it and she didn't understand about the old deadguy cause it wasn't shown and Chet eating the Ol' 96'r wasn't shown either. Just curious if there was a problem editing it. They even cut out when Roman said, "Chet ate the Nag" and "It's been touchin' ya for 20 years". 🤣I'm not hacking on Jay and Amber in any way, but it just seems odd like their cousin sloppily edited it.

@@MAGGOT_VOMIT You're not wrong. I noticed the same things, and it occurred to me very early on that they were reacting to something they hadn't even seen yet, like the hood ornament on Roman's car. And then they were one or two clips behind for the rest of the film. And like you said, most of the clips weren't even of anything relevant.

The raccoons were hilarious. I had the biggest crush on Lucy Deakins as a boy. The ending credits dance sequence is all-time great. Plus Candy and Aykroyd are comedy gold. God I love this movie.

The music at the end is called Land of 1000 Dances, and it's actually performed in this instance by the Blues Brothers, or in this case Elwood Blues Revue since Belushi was dead by now. It also guest stars Wilson Pickett, who sang the original. With the exception of Yackety Sax at the beginning, most of the music to this movie was written specially for it and played by the Blues Brothers band members. It's an excellent soundtrack.
