Yairi Guitars are masterfully crafted instruments-- bench made in Japan, the FYM66HD uses old growth Honduran mahogany to build what we consider to be the best all-mahogany guitar on the market. Take a listen and let us know if you agree.

I have a 1990 Yairi DY-77 that I bought new and it has been the most trouble free instrument imaginable. I actually had to adjust the truss rod for the first time in 34 years this spring, but only because the frets are getting worn, (the first five were replaced 12 years ago), and I was getting a buzz on the B string. The action is still lower than my Taylor and it sounds fantastic. Yairi guitars are one of the best kept secrets in the guitar world. Glad you guys are carrying the Alvarez Yairi line...not too many dealers out there. I'm really wanting the dreadnaught version with the Adirondack top...great instrument.

@@jjallyn3151 Hi. I use the parlor for fingerstyle. It's very responsive, has lower string tension and has a very intimate feel. The FYM I use with a pick. The tone is more open and rich. I'd say the FYM has the better tone and resonance, but I probably play the parlor more as it's so comfortable to play. You can't go wrong with either. They are expensive but also amazing value.

@@andrewhnorris1how does the fym66hd compare to similar guitars such as the Martin 00015sm or 00015m or street master variations. I ordered one a few months ago and just received it. I was floored by its warmth, clarity, volume, and sustain. Evidently there are 24 luthiers at Yairi who hand build all their guitars. KZfaq has videos worth watching of these impressive craftsmen at work. This is a boutique handmade guitar that could easily cost hundreds, if not thousands more.

is yours the 2024 version with FST6 bracing?.. I've seen a lot of videos with the previous years FST2 bracing that also sound amazing. you mentioned good sustain---I saw the Alvarez guys speculating that the new bracing might result in a bit less sustain, so curious about that too...
@jeffzehr8602
@jeffzehr8602 25 күн бұрын
I believe it’s an FST6 since I ordered it in February and got it in June, but honestly I can’t be certain since the change isn’t obvious. I haven’t compared it to the previous model, but its sustain is terrific. Mine is loud, especially for its size, and very responsive to even a light touch. You feel the vibrations against your body. I mostly play folk/singer songwriter stuff around the house and reach for the Yairi over two Taylors costing twice as much. The hard part is finding one to play - they’re not produced in high volume and have a relatively small dealer network. I ordered mine with a 30-day trial and haven’t looked back. Best wishes.

Why do companies insist on binding and inlaying horrible toilet seat plastics?! I know it is cheaper and considerably easier than using wood or shell etc but the aesthetic really suffers, such a shame to frame beautiful, rare woods such as these in terrible plastic. Just one reason why I love my Martin 15s and my guild M20 (although guild has a plastic rosette). These budget models actually benefit from the simplicity while mid-range Martin & Guild models often look much worse. I wish makers would stop this plastic use and utilise wood or just leave it plain. It amazes me how many makers have no sense of aesthetics and have mismatched materials and features which are often redundant. Regardless of all that I love the sound of an all hog (I have 3) and this is no exception. If it weren’t for the binding I wouldn’t hesitate to pick one up.

I'm the proud owner of that DYM74 that Cooper mentioned early in the video. I ordered it from Blake in March and it arrived in San Antonio on May 30th. Cooper was nice enough to test drive it (on video) for me before they shipped it out the following morning. I can't recommend any company more than the good folks at Alamo Music. They'll treat you right! Now, the guitar: It's an absolutely superb instrument. Lightly built, extremely responsive with exceptional clarity. Each string rings like a bell. The neck is extremely comfortable and the craftsmanship is top-notch. For comparison, this brand new guitar has better clarity, sustain and warmth than my 1970 Martin 0-18 (refurbed by Martin in 2013). If you're on the fence, take a chance on the Yairi -- you'll be happy with your purchase.
