I always knew that this was going to be AC’s peak, never to be topped again… a painful reality given everything that has happened since then. Ezio and Altair were more role models to me as a kid playing these games than actual people in the real world. This final send off, this final parting words… inspired more emotion than anything since, and yet those words inspired hope. Hope that no matter how hard or long the journey may be, staying true to yourself and principles will one day bring about something special. We all want to be remembered, I just hope one day myself and others can inspire the way these 2 did.

Ezio really was the best of them. A brash and arrogant youth forged into a deadly assassin and tempered into a fine leader, etched with the consequences of his actions and the character of his decisions, and polished by age and experience into a truly wise mentor. The man may have been a weapon, but his greatest gift was his mind and his heart. To have the humility to do all that and still be able to step away and say "I have seen enough for one life". This comment is perfectly-written. Ezio was our guide when we were young. We started up a game not realizing how deeply we would resonate with the character & relish in his story. Ubisoft will never recreate this special moment in time. They just don’t understand the players anymore. It’s just a constant level-up looting-fest. They forgot that the story & characters were what played on our hearts. I remember being totally immersed in the setting of the Italian Renaissance. It was fucking beautiful. 😔 Long live Ezio Auditore. You’ll always be our hero.

This entire scene grasped my heart and sank into my soul. Ezio finally recognized Desmond had seen everything, had found Altair and saw him as a brother in a cause, no longer a legend and a guide, and these three people connected at long last to one another as two stores concluded, and one reaching it's final act. Requiescat in pace, Altair, Ezio, all Assassins, we will never forget your tale.

This is so sad. I want to tell you something. Many people are mad at the post AC3 story, you know in AC4 etc, that it didn't go anywhere. My theory is that the ending of AC3 was the ending of the entire series, very dark ending, but it was so bad that no one though about it and everyone was expecting another games. The story ended in AC3 but the series was earning so much money that they decided to continue the series without story because let's be honest the post AC3 games are about nothing. All of this is so sad.

@@misteridiot123 The fans. Whenever one formula gets old they switch the game up just enough to make it look new. In the case of the newest one, they have nearly removed all stealth mechanics. Anyway, new fans get interested and it gets buzz. Origins did pretty well. Odyssey sold very well. And, Valhalla was the stinker of the bunch. So, if they finish this arc with the next game. The one after that will have an entirely different formula to give a sparkling new paint job to cover up the Oldsmobile underneath.

Honestly the crowning moment of the whole franchise and for Ezio’s story. It’s honestly really a tear-jerking beautiful moment for Ezio, to finally understand what was the purpose of his life. It was never to have his questions answered, nor have him see to the end of the Assassin-Templar conflict. It was merely to show and guide someone, someone who has been with him since his birth. He finally understands who this “Desmond” was - someone who was watching his life from the future. He doesn’t question how, but only understands that is what is happening. His whole life, he was just a messenger, to pass the torch unto Desmond. At this moment, he isn’t angry. He isn’t upset by this revelation. He only accepts it with grace and humility. He just decides that he has done his part in the grand scheme of things. He has shown Desmond all he needed to know, even if he personally doesn’t know exactly what it was. At this moment, he will now retire from the Brotherhood, and spend the rest of his life in peace with his new love, Sofia.
