I think it’s important to clarify that Luffy’s powers in the story in no way, shape, or form have anything to do functionally with “cartoon powers” or “toon world” powers. This is merely a stylistic choice from Oda to present it in that way as an homage to those wacky instances in older cartoons, but it does NOT influence how Luffy’s powers mechanically work. His power is to possessive a body with rubber-like properties, and with awakening, to have the enhanced freedom to manipulate those properties on himself and others with near-limitless possibilities. So while Luffy’s imagination uses that freedom to insinuate a style similar to “toon powers”, we shouldn’t expect Luffy to be able to things that are NECESSARILY “toon powers”. It’s the other way around!

I agree with your take on the fruit. It's very possible that the other users just didn't manage to awaken it. The gorosei themselves said "it hasn't awakened in centuries". And Luffy was special from the beinning. He's a D, son of two of the greatest men on the planet, blessed by one of the greatest pirates... so it's a mix of the two

No joke, i think the clear candidate for a Mythical Zoan God sleeper fruit is Buggy. He’s always been the comedic parallel to Luffy, failing upwards where Luffy struggles and succeeds. We know now that Luffy’s biggest strength is his imagination and desire to be free and free others. What is Buggy’s biggest strength? Luck and trickery. In the same way Luffy has overcome insurmountable odds through his imagination and strength, Buggy has done the same time and time again with nothing but lies and luck. I know it seems too dumb for a Mythical Zoan God fruit to be wasted on a comedic relief character, but there is one god that would make perfect sense. Hito Hito Nomi: Model: Loki.

And coincidentally (As of Chapter 1072 SPOILERS), both Lucci and Kaku in their awakened zoan states, have showed these Tenne as well, however in their case, the flame-like clouds are black. Rob Lucci, the man who's name literally means "Steal the Light" is wrapped in divine dark clouds promising to steal away the light of truth for the sake of his "necessary evil."

Also he has strange chilling abilities akin to the deaths cold embrace and when he's serious looks pretty spooky. The reaper thing recently everyone went on about being brook, foreshadow? Hmmmm

Hi, nice video as usual, but I completely disagree about Nika explaining Luffy's previous abilities. All of them made sense within the pre-existing Cartoon Logic of the One Piece world and trying to say ''it never made sense actually'' is heavily downplaying how great each of the gears was. Zoro can make slashes fly through the air. Nami can make and control lifelike mirages on the fly by manipulating air pressure and humidity. Usopp can create insane contraptions and survive getting his skull crushed multiple times. Sanji can set himself on fire by spinning around really fast. Brook can run so fast he can run on water. None of these things make sense in real life and a clear examples of Cartoon Logic, so does every Straw Hat have a mythical god fruit? If Luffy's use of fire was a result of his DF and not just the friction of gear 2/haki, then what about Sanji? Kinemon? Holdem? Black Maria? There are so many characters who can just make fire out of nothing, why does Luffy need a logical explanation? I don't understand how gear 4 can be a hybrid form when everything about it is explained by pre-established concepts. He creates it by blowing air into his muscles and hardening them with armament haki. What about this is remotely similar to a zoan transformation? Characters in the OP world can also change direction mid-air just by hitting the air really quickly (geppou/sky walk), which is how G4's flight/punch-redirection was established to work I'm pretty sure. Basically, none of Luffy's powers have ever been so nonsensical as to need to be explained by a Mythical Reality-Bending DF ability. They all work within One Piece's basic Cartoon Logic, which every character has access to. If Luffy need a god DF to do all this, then everyone else also does.

Dragon being Uranus or having it in the form of a df makes sense also, considering shirahoshi = Poseidon and therefore from under the sea. Pluton - probably hidden underground. Uranus would therefore be linked to the sky/ and relate to the weather/storms. Dragon looks like a skypeian, has weather/storm powers.

I love the theory that the last ancient weapon is a mythical devil fruit. It makes so much sense and explains a lot about Dragon. Headcanon material right there.

I don't see why Gear 4th would be the hybrid form and Gear 5th the final stage. Gear 5th is supposed to be the awakening, isn't it? Also, in my strictly personal opinion BBeard won't get a third fruit. He doesn't sleep, and Shanks said it's like he has double the lifespan thanks to this. i agree on alot of things in this theory,but one thing im confuse is that where the fruits will respawn. on punk hazard arc,when smiley died, an apple right infront of him became a devil fruit and burgess in dressrosa is carrying fruits on his back does this mean that human human fruits (zoan types)is the only one that has a will on it? but how do other ppl suit their own devil fruit that isnt zoan type at all? what if the previous owner can impose their will on it if its strong enough? and thats why just chosen devil fruits can respawn whenever they want or when someone know the true appearance of the fruit and place it over the dying body of the previous owner,its just forcing the soul of the fruit to come out? what if a portion of the soul of the previous owner can be transported in the next fruit and thats when the fruits will have a will? and if that happens they cant just be forced out to respawn because it has a will of their own but this speculations makes it even more confusing for blackbeard. He can just simply not get the light (soul)from the fruit escape thus using his devil fruit to overtake it. or he can also eat whitebeards heart? because a devil fruit user is a walking devil fruit. It can be that the fruit refuse to get on his hands so he has no choice but to eat his heart? after all whitebeard has two holes in his chest. I also believe in three blackbeared in one body. This explains why he never slept because it take turns. And why his body can manage to get two devil fruit and another yet to come.

i feel like if nika was named dropped maybe around zoa, i wouldn't be this against these new chapters. i also feel like right now, everything luffy is doing could of been under the gomu gomu fruit still. the rubber fruits awakening makes you free form like a cartoon? yeah that sounds right and makes perfect sense to me. i feel like everything luffy has done, the weird sharp turns he does with a punch from gear 4, red hawk, all this weird stuff can still be explained by rubber. i know resin was a huge thought with a lot of people and that's exactly how you could of explained him catch fire and change his punches. it was just luffy almost unknowingly making his body more of it's liquid form from heating up his body with gear 2. i know luffy is a very, very special boy in the one piece world. i don't need to list all the things he was born and raised as. tons of special people are all related to him too, i would say even roger is in away related to him not by blood but of course the same will. this just adds MORE of that to the list with this whole nika god fruit thing and i feel like this one thing was the one thing to break the camels back for me and that's why it's such a sour taste. like all i have to do is ask any of you that, if before these chapters, lets say maybe 50 chapters ago, some random youtuber or fan or anything told you that luffy has the human human fruit model sun god instead of the gomu gomu this whole time, you would just laugh it off or ignore it completely. there's a very, very good reason for that, because it really doesn't make any sense whatsoever. but of course if oda does it, it's somehow "peak fiction" which is such a stupid term, even for one piece, and i adore one piece. i think this is such a terrible idea of oda to do, that even later on in the story when he starts explaining more stuff, i legit feel like a lot of you are going to finally start to see and ask whats the point of the change then, this is actually a little silly. of course i don't know the future, but there's really no way he could explain this without it making sense in my head. i know a lot of people will just flat out refuse to do that though, and just take whatever oda does and eat it up. we are all heavily invested into this story and to just drop it now is hard, i get it. humans cope in a lot of ways. i'm not dropping one piece myself, but i'm definitly not invested into it as much as i was anymore now. sucks. thanks for reading my blog

Relative to the world of One Piece I guess Sengoku is smart, but his strategies were weak. Akainu got shit done. Sengoku had dumb walls, relied on Garp, committed to a needlessly symbolic execution, etc.

I'm pretty sure Dragon is just a Wind Logia. You don't need a mythical fruit or a literal weather fruit to manipulate the weather. Weather is inherently controlled by the wind. Not to mention Dragon and the Revolutionaries represent freedom and whats freer than the wind itself? It's something you can't grasp or catch and thus fits perfectly into his character and how he's been able to avoid the government because you can't catch freedom the same way you can't catch the wind. Plus, Luffy's based on Sn Wukong and Wukong's father could manipulate the wind. I think people are thinking WAY too hard about Dragon's DF when it's actually far simpler than that.

Disagree All ancient weapons are consistent, they're living beings as we've seen with Shirahoshi and then Momonosuke disaplaying the exact same power. Oda loves his sets and the theme in this set is pretty clear in my opinion: SEA, LAND, SKY. Poseidon, god of the SEA and it's a MERMAID who COMMANDS SEA KINGS. Pluton, god of the underworld aka the LAND, a human boy COMMANDS an elephant, a LAND animal, i.e. a LAND KING Uranus, god of the SKY, a WINGED person will command flying creatures like dragons that we know exist and likely reside in sky islands, i.e. SKY KINGS I'll give you more arguments on Twitter if you want

I still dont like that luffy/ devil fruit feel completely new. There may have been foreshadowed but the build up did not suit the outcome. A whole new character cannot come from just a few minute aspects that Oda may or may not have planned beforehand. Everything still seems very speculative and maybe a bit contrived. I wish I could feel better about this delivery and storytelling, but until the end of this arc I dont think I can be satisfied.

I feel like I live on another planet with this new reveal. It’s like this mass delusion of positivity that doesn’t make any sense to me. I like the look of it, I like the abilities, I like the meta toon element of it, but changing the gum gum fruit to the fruit of a literal god inherently contradicts the themes of the series. It doesn’t matter if it was foreshadowed, it fundamentally breaks what made Luffy an interesting protagonist compared to other Shonen. Why is nobody but someone like BestGuyEver talking about this.
