The greatest vocal performance i've ever seen and the one that got me hooked on Rainbow 25 years ago!

Awesome! Saw a show from this tour in 1977 Long Island New York..the opening song was kill the king and it was rampaging speed metal..and that rainbow across the stage was going along with music at the same speed it was mind blowing.

I agree, one of my favorite live performances. These guys were so tight, Dio's vocals are outstanding and Ritchie's solo was captivating. I have watched this hundreds of times and it never gets old.

I may be biased, but for me Dio's versions always missed that emotion, pain, blues of Coverdale's interpretation of the song. It may be the greatest Hard Rock vocal performance, but not the greatest performance of the song

Coverdale is hard to beat………possibly unbeatable but I love this take on the song! I would love to of heard and inform Gillan have a bash at this song (wouldn’t of ever happened but fun to think) as ‘that’ scream might of added a whole new dimension 🤘

I have to stringently disagree. No singer has EVER put more emotion in a song than Dio.

And for me, this is greatest performance in terms of power, consistency and controle than I had head.
