I know this doesn’t matter to people but this is just gonna be a little vent session for me. I am a middle schooler from a small town school who was in show choir. This previous school year we decided to do the greatest showman as our competition number. It was ALOT of hard work, blood, injuries, sweat and lots of tears. We as middle schoolers are very emotional and don’t wanna do what we are told to do you can imagine that this was really hard for us. We had an AMAZING choir teacher and an amazing dance teacher who led us through it. It took several months but we were show ready at competition. I remember is as one of the best things that had happened to me. I have always loved singing from a very young age and I landed a solo part in “this is me”. Our show choir ended up coming in 1st place overall and we won several individual awards. We got back from completion beaming so proud of ourselves. But the school didn’t really care that we won. Nothing was said to us. Then about a week later our choir teacher broke the news to us. She was being laid off and our choir program would no longer be continuing... As you can tell we were all heartbroken by this. It wasn’t just our school that this impacted it happens in many school. Schools are cutting out music and art programs because of budget cuts. But music and art teaches us something a textbook could never. We need to stand up for what we believe in. Our school couldn’t be saved but maybe somebody else’s would. 💔🤞🏻
