6 ай бұрынThe name 'Mrs Ronnie Greville' or "Maggie Greville" sets off shivers of delight among royal jewelry connoisseurs. Why? Because some of the most spectacular pieces in the House of Windsor's vault once belonged to this woman, born in St John's Wood in 1863 as Margaret Helen Anderson to a lowly brewery cook. Rising once legitimized by her father, William McEwan of McEwan's Fountain Brewing Company (now Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company), Maggie married the Honorable Ronnie Greville in 1891. Greville would become an MP and was heir to a baronetcy but after 17 years of marriage, no children issued. After Ronnie's death in 1908, Maggie traveled the world and compared her diamonds and emeralds to those of the maharajahs. Settling back in her Charles Street home and Polesden Lacey, Maggie became the hub of the Edwardian royal set. She provided cover to Mrs. Keppel, one of the British monarchy's beloved mistresses. Great story…and I’m sure some people who show an interest in Royal Jewels, have learned something about the Grenville bequest. As to your last comment. Ref Diana. The reality rather than your speculations…is… The Jewels belongs to HM The Queen Mother. Her Majisty outlived Diana…somThenQueen didn’t have the Jewels to give to Diana. Whereas, Queen Camilla, was offered certain Pieces from the Queen …Because the Queen by then Could offer them.

If your putting yourself out there…and going to all the trouble…check your facts, not hard to do… The worst mistake was indeed the snide comment at the end. If you’d checked, The Queen didn’t have access to the Grenville jewels to lend to anyone. The Queen Mother. Outlived Diana. Interesting The Queen Mother gave Charles her ring…to present as an engagement ring to Camilla just before she died. I think that and many things since indicated her approval.

Not housing, not education, just immigration costs. Only 70% of British births are to native Brits. Uh, I'd say the then Prince of Wales, Albert Edward, became King Edward VII (Seventh!) and not VIII (Eighth!), after the death of his mother Queen Victoria. You blundered up quite a bit in this video.

Given that the late Queen bequeathed most of her property to His Majesty the King -in a 'sovereign to sovereign' transfer, [which is exempt from inheritance tax]- the Greville Bequest jewels are now HIS private property, and will undoubtedly be the private property of every monarch to come [or the property of the Head of the house of Windsor, should the monarchy be abolished]. Your snark over the adulterous connection between Mrs Keppel and Queen Camilla making it appropriate that Queen Camilla was loaned various items [when Duchess of Cornwall] is unlikely to have been Queen Elizabeth's reasoning , She not not being that judgemental a Christian. Rather, it is more likely she saw that [as the lawful wedded wife of the heir to the Throne], Camilla NEEDED to have suitably grand jewels to wear - and what better use for Mrs Greville's ASTOUNDING pieces could there be ?
