My recommended route stages are :
3 day - Maspalomas, Tunte (San Bartolome), Cruz de Tedeja, Galdar
4 day - Maspolomas, Fataga, Tunte, Cruz de Tedeja, Galdar. The 4 day route means being able to start later in the day in Fataga, arrive early in Tunte and generally rest your legs before starting early on the Tunte to Cruz de Tedeja day which is the most challenging.
I would choose to stay any extra days on Gran Canaria in Las Palmas to enjoy the city. The bus station has a direct bus to Faro de Maspalomas (lighthouse) for around 6 euros, and the bus station in Galdar at the end will bring you back to the Las Palmas bus station for around 3 euros. The price is also similar to get to and from the airport from Las Palmas.
Water quality is very good in Spain but this is not the case in Gran Canaria and I would recommend sticking to bottled water. On each day I passed only 1 or 2 places where I could purchase a drink or food so prepare each day just in case nothing is open. It's still early days for this Camino, I didn't see any other Pilgrims and the infrastructure seems set up only for the occasional Pilgrim.

Hi Sylvia, I use an Atom Packs Atom+ in the latest few Caminos. Previously I used an Osprey Exos 38, a Deuter Guide 36 and a few Montane Packs. All were very good but I like the Atom + the most. It’s a bit more expensive but it’s a backpack for life and they make them especially for you if you want 😊
