I tried this method once it sucked, so far I found that old methods work best.

It's quicker pointing stone work with a injection system, but i would say it might be slower doing brickwork than manual

@hollowedhead thanks for the info.. I really want to get into the repointing/repairing CMU/Brick jobs as they are the least desirable. Where i live the economy isn't as hard on construction jobs.I was thinking of starting a small team of just repointing. I know I could do a cleaner,faster job and safer job than most out there.

How much water is in the mix? Too much!

The mix looks far too wet and therefore prone to shrinkage and fine cracking. Also , as someone has already mentioned, lime mortars cannot be applied in such a sloppy state, especially those of relatively low strength. If any would-be pointers require reliable technical guidance on repointing, do take the trouble to read the Building Research Establishment publication “Good Repair Guide No 24” (Repointing external brickwork walls) as this provides authoritative information, including clarifying suitable mortar mixes, warnings of when worn pointing affects structural integrity and the importance of using lime pointing on old solid walls.

Plastic pointing bag cut at an angle works best doesn't get it on the brick and really fast....not the canvas ones.

haha can't teach an ole dog new tricks. I was thinking of using the pump for grouting 16 x 16 tile floors. As it is now, I use a grout bag. But it beats all that rubber floating & clean up.

@hollowedhead hey I work and live in the United States and i have seen a lot of U.K tools and methods more advanced .I told my old boss about it and he laughed. I no longer work for them and would love to start my own business do you have any advice? or where i can buy these type of machines i would greatly appreciate it.thanks.

washing out works if you wipe and sponge off after ,but these fellers are applying onto dry joints,not the usual method...ever.
