I’ll need to go back and check but the number 19 wasn’t originally mentioned before King revised The Gunslinger. I just remember them using her as a shield and Roland taking her out first.

Great summary of one of my favorite books of all time man! Completely agree with you about the dream like feeling of the novel. King does an incredible job taking all these western tropes and morphing them into a way that feels fantastical. Think I'm in the minority, but I actually like his original version of the novel before he revised it in 2003. Think that version works better as a standalone story, myself.
@PaperbackJourneys
@PaperbackJourneys Жыл бұрын
Oh that's interesting. Was the revised version VERY different?
@thomasr7292
@thomasr7292 Жыл бұрын
@@PaperbackJourneys It's tough to say. I don't think there were many major textual changes, but the revisions did have some impact on the tone of the story. Without spoiling the other books, the biggest difference for me concerned Allie. SPOILERS FOR BOOK I SPOILERS FOR BOOK I In the original version, I believe she actually asks Roland not to kill her, but he shoots her anyways out of instinct. I think the two different accounts of her death paint very different pictures of Roland.

I loved your review very entertaining. I've done all of these years ago and based on that I am redoing them in this order because I feel it makes the most sense based on where you encounter characters and premises. The Gunslinger The Eyes of the Dragon The Talisman The Drawing of the Three IT The Wastelands The Stand Wizard and Glass Insomnia Little Sisters Of Eluria (short story in Everything's Eventual) The Wind Through the Keyhole Salem's Lot Wolves of the Calla Black House Song of Susannah Low Men in Yellow Coats (Short story in Heart's in Atlantis) Everything's Eventual (short story in Everything's Eventual) The Dark Tower

Haha thanks mate!! I appreciate that. Yeah I get carried away in a lot of the reviews in this series. The first book is weird and kind of dream like. You don't have any reference points of the world so yeah I wasn't sure about it. The second book has a much more traditional narrative. I think you'll enjoy the characters. Plus I want to see if I can make you laugh in the next review lol.
