Whatever it is, it's not chaos aligned. That alone is terrifying. Perhaps the Necrons have some information, they draw energies from alternate dimensions and realities, yes? Perhaps this is one of them, making contact.

Only a Warhammer lore video could blithely mention something as interesting sounding as an "Arch-Arsonist" and just continue on to talk about a sentient time anomaly in space. That's why I love this stuff. (Though I would love to know who or what an Arch-Arsonist is/was, too.)

Maybe the Anomaly could be the spiritual signature of a destroyed C'tan. Like the Howling, it is the death cry of the destroyed C'tan that lingered after all this time.

I love 40k horror stories that dont rely on known enemies. The problem with horror here is that chaos is not scary or unknown anymore, we know waay to much about it. But a cosmic entity like this? It scratches that itch perfectly

My personal headcanon is that the Limitless Grasp is from a parallel universe where the Emperor and Loyalists stopped the Horus Heresy before it even started, and the Primarchs each got a section of the galaxy to rule. The Limitless Grasp was part of the trader fleet from the sector ruled by Sanguinius. "Sanguine Oligarch" was one of his honorific titles in this universe. The Limitless Grasp was caught in the creation of the parallel universe's version of the Hadex anomaly in 656.M40, which destroyed Virinus and trapped the Limitless Grasp in a time/space loop between dimensions.

Crazy Eldritch Horror bleeding into our plane of existence. Anything that observes its influence goes mad. Sounds like an Old God has partially awoken.

Makes me want to see a rogue trader/battlefleet gothic game to see these stories play out

I gotta say I really love the obscure lore dives Wes has been putting out. The space is littered with KZfaqrs making sort of intro primers and shorts for people who are relatively new to warhammer, or doing long videos that cover entire chapters, legions, factions etc, which is fantastic for increasing the engagement and entertainment for people new to the hobby. However for people who have been around a bit longer or who have exhausted most of the popular lore, it's great to have stuff pulled from the corners of the IP ❤

My first gut reaction is that we are witnessing the birth of a c'tan. Insatiable hunger, check. Eats star systems, check. Screws with the minds of mortals, check. Capable of self-locomotion, check. Not aligned with any sort of moral compass, chaotic or conventional, check. Has gathered a cult of the "faithful," willing to debase themselves for the glory of their master, check. Alright now someone tell me why I'm wrong.

You should do a follow up video on the "Stigmartus" faction of the Jericho Reach. They're based in the Hadex anomaly and use its distorted flow of time to their advantage. They might even be in contact/in cooperation with the Hadex anomaly. Large armies and fleets pour from the Hadex anomaly every few months that should have taken decades to amass. Of course, these forces do take that long to amass, but time passes much faster inside the Hadex anomaly. It's likely that there, a couple of decades pass in what is only a few realspace months; this allows the Stigmartus enough forces to fight on equal footing with the local Imperial Crusade! The Stigmartus also pick on the Jericho Reach's Tau for good measure as well. Pretty interesting stuff, I'd recommend a read.

The rogue navigators you mentioned could do really well in Noctis Aeternae, assuming that the source of their worship is able to maintain its impression of the Astronomicon after the Cicatrix obscures it. Sounds like a fun hook for a story, actually. Love to see you tackle the various maladies of the Askellon sector, especially the Vaxi atrocity, its fallout, and associated conspiracies.

Another fantastic lore / mystery video. These sorts of stories always have our minds racing with "what if's, mights and maybes." While we do enjoy all the natural horrors that chaos brings to the setting. It's these unknown and unseen forces that make the goosebumps go. Now to answer your question. We've just finished reading a somewhat recent 40K short story called "The Bookkeepers Skull". I won't spoil it but there's certainly a few creepy and mysterious things that happen in the story that you might be interested in. There's even this one particularly strange event that happens towards the beginning that even made us freaked out.

Sounds to me like a stranded or wounded C'tan. Eating systems, bending realities, communicating to telepaths, moving, seeking, and not Warp related.

Apparently things did indeed get worse due to a huge "great rift" tearing its way into the materium between the eye of terror and the hadex anomaly.

It reminds me of that movie Event Horizon tbh. Especially the way you described the scene of Hadex's ship being frozen in a scene of madness and death.

I wonder if the Anomally amplified the cry of the Astropath... perhaps that's why it was so devastating to other astropaths who could hear it? Maybe, normally, it would've been like getting a voicemail from your friend lamenting over their lover having been unfaithful. So while you'd normally be like "awe man that freakin sucks..", instead, you feel like you're the one betrayed but over and over and over again to the Nth power and since it's essentially a broadcast it just keeps flooding in, a perpetual stream of the worst information imaginable reaming through their mind's eye. Or, the Anomally is just that horrific that what was being heard was true to what was initially being conveyed. Either one is as terrifying as the other...

Question inspired by a different video. Who makes the weapons, armour and ships of the chaos marines? Do they have forge worlds that somehow function despite being chaos based? Do they steal and convert others? I really can’t see the hoards of twisted f’ed up chaos legions being able to put together a Walkman let alone a ridiculously complex warship. Like the hoards of Nurgle are putting together nuclear or fusion reactors or the minions of Slaanesh zipping up their pants, sheathing their knives and turning off the disco balls long enough to build and engine or manufacture a bolter. Who feeds these demented nut jobs?

The scariest place in the galaxy is the planet with the giant, mvrD3r-spiders that can go toe-to-toe with an Astartes.

Given the Limitless Grasp mentions a planet called Verronus, then it goes on about a celestial anomaly absorbing a planet, maybe Verronus was where the Anomaly started, a tragic occurrence turning the planet into the wound in reality?

The ship that keeps reappearing looking for a the planet no one can see could have been pushed just out of sync with reality by the time bending effects of Anomaly forcing it to repeatedly witness the planets destruction.

I think it would be really cool if this turned out to be the death place of a C’tan. We’re witnessing the wound on reality created by its absence.

Chaos C'tan maybe? Imagine if one of the star gods unrelated to the Necrons drama, simply found itself in our galaxy and when it eventually finds out about the warp it decides to embrace its powers and somehow starts interacting with it for its own benefits. Maybe then mutated a bit and became an entirely new entity which is using the warp but unlike the chaos gods is not a part of the immaterium.

Could it be A living C’tan? I know that’s incredibly far fetched, but It just feels right. If you disagree please explain why! :D I’m not very versed in 40k lore so I could be way off.

What I write here is something I pieced together from things found on the 40K wiki: Verronus did exist and was the seat of Imperial authority in the Jericho Reach until it fell to Chaos with the entire sector. The Limitless Grasp arrived in the final moments before Chaos worshippers performed some ritual that destroyed the entire planet and created the Anomaly. That's why the planet is missing from the charts and it's probably also the reason why it was erased from the Imperial records.

I've got a theory about its origin. Remember when Magnus the Red traded one of his eyes to Tzeentch in exchange for a cure to the flesh change that was plaguing his sons? Well, Tzeentch might be the architect of fate, and a reflection of the sum total of the galaxy's sentience, intelligence, and dreams for the future, but that doesn't mean Tzeentch is wise, or that he would know what to do with Magnus's eye. A lot of time, some experimentation, and tempting of mortals later... You have an anomaly that can look back at those who gaze upon it, which can communicate, and whose nature can never be discerned because it's always changing, much like how Tzeentch constantly defies classification or physical description. Not to mention, it seems to possess a voracious sense of curiosity and careful eye for detail that you might expect of a being like Magnus himself. Hence, it expands its reach, never content with what it's already discovered, yet it also never seems to forget what it's already encountered, like the thousands of millions of dead ghost ships floating at it's outermost edges. In that respect, if the anomaly was born in the same span of time as the Limitless Grasp's approach to the (appropriately Egyptian-themed) planet of origin, the Limitless Grasp may have been the very first outside entity the anomaly could extended its curiosity towards. Perhaps the Phaeronic Oligarch and everyone on his planet had already been dead and doomed for a long time before the arrival of the Limitless Grasp, which is why the ship's hails were never answered through official channels. The anomaly noticed, and wanted to greet it's new friend, but didn't know how to reply. Not understanding the power it wielded, it destroyed the Limitless Grasp when it tried to make contact. It was so impactful to the anomaly that it never forgot the interaction, and every manifestation of the event is like the anomaly remembering the event all over again. Whether or not it's a fond or deeply traumatic memory is up for debate. If it were traumatic, however, it could explain why that one mining ship and its crew were so carefully dissected; the anomaly was trying to understand the limits of mortals and their constructs, and was practicing being gentle and careful. Honing its fine motor skills, if you will. And when it finally found humans it could sorta safely communicate with (navigators) it did everything in its power to not only hoard them, but ensure their safe passage to anywhere it has spread.

I love these tales! In my personal headcanon, the Old Ones were interrupted in their effort to order the galaxy by the War In Heaven. And maybe because of that, a lot of old things, born when the universe was far less stable, have not been purged as they should have.... Eldritch in 40k does not have to mean Chaos. The C'tan were godlike beings wholly of the material world...and there are many other things that speak of old and unutterable but very material beings...the Halo Devices, whatever came from the Ghoul Stars, the Rangda, the Slaught, the Harrowing...so, so much potential...

A entire part of the galaxy that could’ve been the equivalent to an aftermath of the hardest battle of World War One during the war of heaven seems like an explanation.

I wonder what the Necron Chronomancers would make of this. Probably be utterly disgusted at how the Warp messes with time.

I'm neither a 40k nor a Hellraiser loremaster but I have to wonder if there's any inspiration for it being drawn from the Hellraiser lore. That Lamentation Wave or whatever it was called made me think of the Lamentation Configuration puzzle box often used to summon the cenobites in the Hellraiser media.

My problem with any supernatural mystery from in 40k is that literally anything can be explained by "the warp did it". Time anomalies? Warp, weird monsters or spirits? The warp, mutations or evil auras? Warp.

Sounds to me like the ship is from an alternate universe and the anomaly is a portion of what occured in that alternate universe manifesting in the 40k universe. Im assuming what ever warp base chaos god in the alternate universe is using their equivalent of the astronomicon to lead other to it so it can force its way into the 40k universe

My first thought with the whole time stuff and star aesthetic is C'tan like maybe it's a C'tan healing or a shard that managed to escape the Necrons, especially the mention of a Pharonic ruler, but it seems to have a really big presence in and some control over the warp, so probs not. Either way, I'm realizing the Warhammer universe really needs an SCP Foundation (possible new hobby for Trazyn? He has the storage space)

Well, only specifc groups create space hulks, so that tells you what is in there to some degree. It isn't just a stationary tear or hole in time, or else the galaxy (which is always moving) would whiz away from it.

What if its a future warp time god. Warp gods are birthed at some point in time, but even before that point, they are suppose to somehow still "exist". What if this is an example of that? Or the exact opposite, it could be similarly to the eye of terror, but for a time warp god, now either dead or defeated by the other warp gods.
