Even though this is old. The sound effects, music, and almost hastiness of your voice near the end genuinely did evoke a bit of fear for me, which is kinda rare because when listening to these I'm rarely spooked. So I guess that's a pretty great sign that you did a good job.

The ending was probably the MOST horrifying part. Although hearing people be ripped in half is scary, not nearly as scary as knowing that the thing is closing in and you can't do a thing about it. 11/10 man I love your videos so much.

This is one of my favorite creepypastas for one good reason: the way it is written. Unlike most modern pastas, this one is more like an actual recollection of an event happening rather than a short story in first person. I don't mind the latter, but seeing most well written pastas have the vibe of "I survived something horrible", it helps with the authenticity by not having minutes of dialogue being read in between moments.

I simply adore your readings, I tend to get a little sick of people just deepening their voices and reading a creepypasta with no expression as if that makes the story "creepier". You express emotion in your stories convincingly and horrifyingly. The atmosphere you convey with the sound effects you add just amplifies this, and there are very few creepypasta readers that are as talented as you

I'm not a person who is scared easily, but nearing the end when that monster came out and started ripping people apart with that song blasting, I jumped and flipped my phone up so there would be light. (My phone was face down, so I was lying in complete darkness). This story terrified me. You did a great job!

Desperate to hear more content from you...I've gone through the whole backlog...lol, I came across this one randomly in my feed, I decided to listen again. I have listened to most of yours twice...but not this one. This was a REALLY great story! Both you and Rom seem to have a special gift for picking all of the best stories( you guys should do Borrasca. It's a great story, but I can see a collaboration story that would rock!) Anyway...back to the one at hand! Besides being a great story, the URGENCY in your voice was essential to the success of this video...as well as your always excellent soundtrack. Oh my goodness! I've heard other's rendition of this story and it always gave me chills. But hearing the song actually in the vackround almost made me completely loose it. Just hearing the song creeping in really makes you feel the character's terror. I practically screamed when I heard the music from my neighbors slowly increase after the story ended. Well played sir. It’s a rough hypothesis: Our minds inherently search for patterns in all we experience. This is a survival strategy from when we were hunted many 1,000s of years ago. Whether it is seeing faces/forms in random vegetation or hearing voices/movement in the sound of wind through the trees, we are looking into the unknown for any sign of a threat. This comes from the oldest and most hard wired part of our brain, the amygdala, or lizard brain. By necessity it can override the other 90% of our brain at any time and send us into fight/flight/freeze in an instant. A great piece of art, just like a rollercoaster or a jump scare, can bypass our cerebellum and tickle our amygdala, creating that fear when there is nothing to fear at all. It really is a humble reminder that we’re no different than all the other animals on earth. We just have a larger brain than most species and opposable digits. You ever wonder what an elephant or a dolphin could do if they had the limbs to match our dexterity?

***SPOILER ALERT*** Suuuuure...just go on in there and check the room. Why worry that one subject is dead, a second is a monster and a crazy scientist started it by broadcasting an evil chant... I KNEW that song was evil! Maybe Zimmerman was chanting its lyrics in another language to summon the entities. This story is one of the very first creepypastas I ever heard. Can’t remember who I originally heard narrate it. It’s been long enough that it was nice to hear again. Your version is excellent. The background sound effects are a nice touch. Really helps build the atmosphere. Thank you, sir!

I don't care if this video is old and my comment might lose itself in the mist of time. Dude , like , the sound design of this , the narration , omg , I've only heard such horrific ambiant noise from a french youtuber that does creepy pasta. And yet , this , this is a masterpiece. I listened to a lot of stories , most from Mr.creeps and Mr.Creepy pasta , but The Dark Somunum , like , clearly just puts you into the story , gets other people that definetly know how to express some emotions , never too monotonous unless neede. I can't express just how good this is and how unhealthily scary and stressfull it felt to listen to this , yet it felt so god damn good and the story , even if it's like what you would expect from any horror experiment type story , dude still managed to keep it interesting just by the fact that he knows how to organise sound to make it like you're there with him. That he is narrating your story. Purely awesome.
