As a violinist that has played the original version of this piece, I must say, I applaud the violinists in this video. The first violin part is the fastest thing I've ever played in my fifteen years, and this orchestra played it even faster than we did. Starting at 1:20, the piano sets the tempo at 80bpm, but the violins have 8 notes per beat for 640 distinct notes per minute, roughly 11 notes a second. I can't believe the entire section is just playing that perfectly...

I write music for films and games and I cannot for the life of me understand how he comes up with new stuff every 3 seconds! And from what i know... he orchestrates most of his stuff. Whenever I think I'm good at my craft... I listen to this and Beethoven and realize I ain't shit. He's definitely the Yoda of film score.

@liteoner
@liteoner 6 жыл бұрын
If that makes you feel better, he doesn't. He explained it in different videos that he spends days, even weeks coming up with themes only. I think he said that the Raider's Theme had several versions before he found the one that's used now. In fact, the B section of the theme was one of the alternate versions, but Spielberg loved both so they connected them into one. Basically he sits at his piano trying to come up with melodies by trial and error. Then he has 2-3 months to develop those ideas. I think what makes him stand out is his knowledge of the instruments he's writing for. So basically he orchestrates while composing, which is pretty rare these days. He does have orchestrators, but they add maybe 10% or less.
@musicmeili
@musicmeili 6 жыл бұрын
The reason most don't orchestrate at the same time is because if the director doesn't like how it sounds, you have to edit so much music, as opposed to creating just the melodies and then having someone orchestrate. BUT, I think because Williams has such a reputation, there is not much editing from the director's standpoint that's needed. idk. I mean, I prefer to orchestrate as I go, but it just takes more time.

It's in both the first and second movie's scores. In the first, it plays just as Ron is called to the sorting hat. In Chamber of Secrets, it's when the car sidles up to Harry's barred window. It's a jaunty little tune that lasts just a few seconds, Darebear

Definitively the greatest film score composer of all time.. No one has wrote more memorable film scores than mr Williams.. His music enhances the films so much... My personal favorite of his parade of the slave children from temple of doom, personally think it's the greatest hero theme of all time... Of course there is Star Wars arguably the greatest piece of film music ever conceived (watch the philharmonics rendition of this it's amazing) and jaws the greatest villain theme of all time. This man is a musical genius for his medium.. The greatest of all time in my humble opinion..

it's depends of what you want. only hearing the tunes ? they are all on my account here. the whole show with interviews, ads etc ? well,, you can try to go back in time and record it on PBS in america when it has been broadcasted, around 2002 or 2003 i think. :).

@@Martyprod2 Thanks for replying. The thing is I can't find them - I searched your channel for "potter" and "suite" but only found this and the one I mentioned (and a small excerpt of quiddich). I'd love to hear the whole thing in order, without Williams popping up to explain things.
