There is actually an even deeper lore and meaning to it than toxic relationships. The golden woman in the river represents the gold within the rivers of Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican people, while the soldiers represented the spanish invaders. The Chief of the Puerto Rican natives named Agüeybaná openly welcomed and greeted the foreigners when they arrived, to show friendship. According to some accounts, the foreigners didn't meet any resistance because the Taino people thought they were Gods. However after a few months of being friendly, the spanish continued their colonization plans. This lead to the rebellion of the Taino people of Puerto Rico and eventually the genocide of about 85 - 90% of their population. The reason why this episode is set on a river is because there are accounts that the conquistadors used Taino natives to mine the rich gold within the rivers of the island, causing the deaths of many people.

As an animator and concept artist, this is definitely one of my fave episodes next to "The Witness". Amazing color keys, composition, basically the overall visual storytelling and great writing. For those who are wondering, Alberto Mielgo directed and designed this episode. Some paintings were also done by George Varodi, Vanya Fedorov, and other Pinkman TV artists. Y'all should follow their works! Definitely one of my inspirations.

the mermaid portrays an independent person, who afraid to fall in love. sanay mag isa, kagaya sila lahat. till we finally met that person na iba, katangi tangi, nahulog tayo. pero akala natin yun na, feelings are mutual pero hindi pala tayo ang priority and in the end, hindi tayo ang pipiliin leaving us behind alone, weak and bloody. nasira lang ang ginto (inner peace) na kay tagal nating naipon.

This is hands-down the most visually pleasing episode in the entire show. The way they animated the fluidity of the dancing, and the shining gold/treasure, is awe-inspiring. Story-wise, however, my over-all favorite would be "Zima Blue" from Volume 1. A tearjerker. In Volume 3, my favorite episode would be "Bad Travelling." That show, aside from the thrilling gore, explored morality and the gray concept of good and bad. Love, Death, & Robots is a must-watch!

It's sad that there are actually relationships that are extremely toxic, si jabaro at yung gintong prinsesa portrays that type of relationship. Love the energy and the way u explained it po kuya claro, papanoorin ko sa netflix later on!

This episode makes people GO WILD to watch the whole Volumes of Love Death x Robots, even my friend got surprised after she watched this. Highly Recommended if you love anthology series or adult animation 💛💛💛 Edit: Another thing that I love is the music which Mielgo used. Most of his work involves Industrial Techno like in "The Witness" and Watch Dog: Legion. The first song which the siren first dances is haunting that most of the fans are still finding it but knew the music producer which is Killawatt

Very meaningful and sobrang ganda nya, very relatable nya tlaga for todays generation.

wala sya naramdaman. jibaro is a greedy man, jibaro only wants the gold. Jibaro chased the siren because when he tried to pull her, the gold fell off. The poor golden woman was naive thinking Jibaro have the same skin as her because of Jibaro's armor, and the woman thought jibaro was also a siren since he didn't die from her screams. The golden woman wanted a soulmate, Jibaro wanted gold right from the start of the film. he didn't get any feelings for the siren.

Ang sagot ko sa tanong ay nagandahan ako sa story. Nagbigay siya ng mga emosyon sa atin gaya ng pagkagalit, pagkalito, pagkatuwa, pagkakilig, at pagkalungkot. Hindi rin siya tipikal na istorya, at makikita mong pinag-isipan talagang maigi. Unexpected yung story at yung ending kaya nakakapukaw siya ng atensyon sa manonood.

Jibaro materialistic deaf from the start. No love from the start only curiosity. Un golden woman lang ang nainlove. The story reflects karma and to women being taken advantage of. Kaht anong ganda or yaman or powerful, hindi non nakukuha basta ang real love lalo na kng masama ang ugali (pumapatay or cause ng pagkamatay ng mga lalaki).

I binge watch season 1 and 2 for three days, tapos 1 day for season 3. of all the episodes, Jibaro is the only episode puts me in tears like I understand the story and her pain for being took advantage.( sorry for the bad grammar) . I know it was toxic and major red flag at the beginning but it doesn't mean her pain are invalid. she may not understand how to start this new interest but I know she only seeks to something or someone who can understand and give her affection, but sadly she chose the wrong person. (I hope I interpret the story right). both are red flags, both have lackings and greed in the relationship. I somehow feel sad for her. All LD+R episodes are beautiful. ❤💀🤖

Love Death + Robots is a really good scary-look-like-toxic masterpiece series where every story scenarios are reflected based in the happenings in the series. Some of the episodes like the Jibaro (and also The Witness which are both directed by Alberto) really look like there was no story behind it but its a tragedy with no good or bad characters, toxic and relationships, brutal screaming and more in the episode. The Siren’s deadly dance & screams brings or lures the soldiers in/on the lake being killed/soldiers kill each other and suicide??? but the impaired can’t hear the scream so he cant kill himself or something but ends up being killed in/on the river anyway based on what i saw in the episode. Really loved how they animated the series Skl✌🏻💛💛💛💛💛
