I had a bitter break up with my girlfriend, and I literally had to walk 3 miles through the snow with my suitcases in my hands. I was walking 'cause I didn't have any bus fare. While I was walking, a gentleman stopped and asked me if I needed a lift. He drove me to my parents' house. I told him that I didn't have any money. He told me not to worry about it. He helped me with my suitcases, and drove off. That man, who helped me in my time of need,.......... was Aaron Pryor.

I do know that in 78/79 pryor was offered a fight by the Duran camp and turned it down. According to pryor himself he was in a management dispute and had been advised by his lawyers not to sign anything until that was settled and by the time that was done Duran had moved on to 147 full time. What a shame that one got missed because I'm convinced it would've been possible the greatest bout of all time.

He was offered 500k to fight leonard, turned it down saying he wanted more,,, he thought he could beat leonard so take the bout and when you win you can name your price on the rematch.... totally clueless and an idiot tbh.... plus those performances enhancing drugs during bouts was very naughty.... he ended up on crack.... no surprise tbh .. Good fighter tho, but ray leonard would of destroyed him at welterweight... Duran if in shape would kill him... Tommy hearns at welterweight would kill him...

Me being from Cincinnati, I've watched Aaron Pryor very carefully over the years. I watched when he lost in The 1976 Olympic Trials against Howard Davis, and when he had to move up in weight to face Antonio Cervantes for The WBA World Jr. Welterweight Championship (which he had won) because Hilmer Kenty, and Jim Watt were ducking him, and he was teaching inner city kids how to box after he had overcame his crack addiction. Pryor was indeed a great fighter even though he was overshadowed by Leonard, Hearns, Haglar, and Duran. But he had given back to the less fortunate in Cincinnati.

YES!! I’ve been waiting for a breakdown of Pryor. I’m so happy he’s getting shine, and especially on this channel because I know you’ll do him justice 🥊. In fact he would give today’s boxer hell, this style would overwhelm someone like Shakur Stevenson I think.

Pryor was a swarmer who would apply relelantless pressure using his great combination punching and amazing feints and fakes to set up shots, his shift technique used to back up opponents while keeping forward momentum. Although he is reckless he for sure is one of the most underrated and I'll definitely watch more of his fights.

Always thought he was wayyyy underrated. He was one of them ones that looked beatable when watching him but in the ring he was extremely awkward and hit much harder than others realized until they're already feeling the power. Always remember that he was fighting above his natural weight of 135 making him even more impressive. Would've been honored to have met him. RIP CHAMPION 🏆

When Aaron Pryor was a Lightweight contender, Jim Watt, and Hilmer Kenty were ducking him. Muhammad Ali, who later promoted The Pryor-Cervantes fight, suggested to Pryor that he should move up to The Junior-welterweight Division, and the rest was history.

He looks like someone that is one or two steps less erratic than Emmanuel Augustus but more pushy with his front hand. I bet he would be a super annoying person to box against because he would slip really well and move into a really ugly position to hit you hard. I really enjoy these breakdowns of people from the past that I had no idea about.

@@BoxingLife i think the main reasons i thought of this was theyre both taller and stand somewhat upright and throw alot of straight punches, i guess its surface level similarities. i feel like thus far ryan garcia hasnt impressed me with defense but really he hasnt fought anyone who would require him to be defensive. he has been able to just walk guys down which will probably change as he keeps moving up. i also feel like arguello stayed active while garcia can go quiet sometimes like hes waiting to land a big counter but against better competition you cant keep waiting while they rack up points

Pryor fue un grandioso boxeador pero eso no justifica que en la primera pelea con Alexis, haya usado CON EVIDENCIA ABSOLUTA - ver imágenes que lo demuestran-, sustancias PROHIBIDAS. He was dopped. It is a pity that that doping against Alexis Arguello eclipsed his light. One of the boxers from the Panama Lewis stable declared that what they used was coke mixed with honey. So it is most likely what contained the preparation of the ``black bottle`` was that. In fact thats is the most fameous dopping in sport history,

Aaron Pryor was defiantly a fantastic entertaining fighter that swarmed all over you. However his image will forever be tainted by his alleged super drinks v that other great boxer Alexis Arguello . Eg it’s not normal to finish a fight much much stronger and faster than when you started it. Boxing fans could think, if he cheated against Arguello , who else did cheat against.

Pryor was an underrated fighter, He had power ,boxing skills and a good chin, too bad he had a dirty trainer like Panama Lewis who influenced his fighters to cheat. We all heard in the video where Panama Lewis is telling his corner in the sixth and thirteen round " Give me the botle the one i mixed'. Panama Lewis said it was just water but how can you mix water with water. After this Panama Lewis was caught again cheating in the fight between Luis Resto vs Billy Collins where the trainer took the padding out from Resto`s gloves and a few years later Resto said that Panama Lewis usually put asthma pills in the water and that would give you a boost and make you feel fresh like you were in the first round of the fight. Ironically the boxing federation back in the 80`s never did a blood test or urinary test to boxers like Pryor and Resto. Pryor a great legend but the first fight vs Arguello tinted his career as a cheater and also according to a lot of people Pryor lost his eye sight in one of his eyes in that battle vs Arguello.
