I grew up with yonasen schwartz albums. My father passed away when I was 13 years old in 1998. At that time he gave out his gite besirah album and he has a song of a child that sat by his father sick bed and then the father passed away. That song gave me so much chizuk. I was literally crying every time I listened to that song.

Some divorced parents hate their spouses more than they love their children. It's heartbreaking to watch those children lose so much because of one or both of their parents' hatred towards the other.

What a smart man. I was involved in one shidduch. The mother said no. So, I went directly to the boy and mentioned it to him. When I told him the girl's name he said that it never was mentioned to him and I told him why. I told him that his mother said no. I said it's only one date. If there is no connection then you don't continue. But there is no reason not to go out at least once. They are BH married and have married children.

I agree with him 100% that it is very painful but true. Sorry for the ones who got offended by it it is hard to hear the truth. I heard him in the Yiddish podcast as well he is a brilliant man who went through a lot in his life, and instead of getting depressed he built upon it. I loved this episode it was definitely EPIC!.

Epic. Definitely epic...so much wisdom...I feel that today's society has been influenced in subtle ways (as well as not so subtle) to focus on 'what's good for me?' When we think like that we are not a vessel for a mutual relationship. Even if one doesn't agree with every word it's worth listening to. I think he's an amazing man B"H. The shidduch crisis is a symptom of a much larger issue. We have become the most judgemental community, judging people for silly external things that have no meaning and no basis in Torah. Thats causing families to struggle with getting kids into schools/cheder/yeshivas, kids going OTD, and many more issues were facing. The shidduch crisis is also a product of that. Instead of looking how we can make everything assur, lets focus on the basic halachas like loving your fellow jew instea of being oiver on that in the name of mishigasen

Your religion allows divorce (mine Catholicism does not - I got a very very very rare "annulment"). I don't agree divorce is usually worse. My parents were married until they died - 50 years and they really were not happy together . It was so sad for us to see particularly as teenage children. I was not prepared to put my own children through that so we divorced after 20 years and for us it was the best thing.

You didn't understand the chasam soifer! He says that to say hatoiv vihameitiv it has to be considered from hashem, yet since there is only one that you want and you want her to say yes FROM HERSELF , therfore hatoiv vihameotiv isn't the blessing As you want her to say yes Not hashem making her say yes And that's in addition that its how you need to see it from a perspective That's what he adds

Another thing; its ironic how R'Yonason says he went through a bitter divorce yet cauations others against it.Either he should have taken his own advice or accept its easy to saywith hindsight. Third, does he think maybe his doing gigs every night and gallivanting all over the world on the first few years of marriage may have contributed to its demise? How about a few words to the young about priorities? Kids look up to singers in the Jewish world yet many seem to have serious unresolved issues in their personal lives.
