You have the patience of a glacier and explain things very well.

being from a Collage town I know a couple people who make damn good Money collecting cans and any scrap metal from many places around town. they both cruise looking at the dumpsters every single day and it's usually got quite a load already. i myself have never done this but always had the same opportunity to do so. what a hate is those who'll steal from a construction site like all expensive plumbing fixtures, copper couplings 4" and tubing. I'll turn them in in a heartbeat if i know about it. they'll steal a thousand dollars in material and sell it for 10-20 bucks. not on my watch

I sold my dads old car in a yard sale. The dude asked how much and I told him, 10 cents a pound. At the time 2 years ago scrap metal was 10.5 cents. The last time I was up there it was 4 cents. Good news was aluminum cans was 45 cents. Where I live it illegal for them to buy scrap metal when you show up on a bike. I have an Ebike with a trailer and showed up with about 150 lbs of scrap and they would not take it. Just soda cans. That’s when I asked how much is it now. At 4 cents I will just let it pile up in the yard.

I used to work a gas station. You are a captive audience and these days there are a lot of lonely people who have limited contact with other humans so you become a friend to them. I once had a woman introduce me to someone and say I was her best friend and the sad part was I didn't know her name. I wore a name tag so she knew mine but I didn't know her's.

I remember when you got those batteries. Some constructive criticism, a man on a fixed income should not be feeding 7 animals...unless they are producing.

+@BORNGEARHEAD Ordinarily I would agree. But, as Mark Twain said “the more I learn about people, the more I like my dog”. I never say I’m on a fixed income. That makes me feel old. I am able to do other things to enhance my income. For the comfort and unconditional love offered by these “animals” (except the cats of course), they are worth every penny. If people consider their pets an expense, then they don’t really need them.
