I would love to see a video like this about RDL s done for reps! I know its not so strength oriented as other feats, but the RDL is the thing I go hardest on as both a developemental tool and strength metric. This week I hit 110 kg x 7. I aim to reach 160 kg x 10 in my training career! Great video!
@lorenzoespetxe6481
@lorenzoespetxe6481 Ай бұрын
For context I m 5 feet 7, natty, weigh 76 kg as of now at 19 % bf. Someday I d like to be 80 kg lean, therefore the 160 x 10 RDL would be twice bw at my "peak body comp" some day.

Although this list is for the heaviest regardless of weight classes - I think it's worth mentioning some of the lighter guys as well. Ivan Ivanov front squatting nearly 4x BW with a 210 kg weighing 56kg, Liao Hui front squatting 260kg as a 69 kg weightlifter (although some ppl were claiming the plates are fake due to how easy he made it look) and Durun Sevinc has front squatted 280kg as a 85kg weightlifter in the training hall. The latter is rumored to have front squatted in the 300-s in the off season, and I don't doubt it!

You make and defend a solid point regarding the value of front squatting for Strongman. And I think I know where the detractor is "off." Compared to a back squat, a front squat is actually relatively EASIER on the quadriceps and HARDER on the hips and back. If you look at the profile of a front squat, the fact that the bar is in front of the neck moves its center of mass (combined with the center of mass of the body of the lifter) forward by, what, I guess 8". And 8" forward means the center of mass is forward and centered just a few inches from being directly over the knees . . . so the leg lever is much shorter. When one then sees a front squatter bend their posture forward, he/she is taking even more load off the legs and transferring it onto his/her hips and back, the hinge. The load on the hips/ back is greatly increased. When you see a novice lifter struggling to stand with a front squat and looking close to dumping it, the legs are normally not the issue; it is the lower back struggling with the bar positioned so far forward. I should add this is counterintuitive as the lifter should have more confidence in the legs supplying the power by maintaining strict posture. *So, front squats are very close to modeling lifting heavy stones (stones are well out in front) and several other Strongman events.

Kevin oak front ssb squated 775
@freakied0550
@freakied0550 Ай бұрын
Oak is a great squatter, but an ssb front squat isn't the same. The camber of the ssb place the weights center of gravity further back, much more forgiving than a barbell front squat. I'm prettt sure Oak even made a video about that, and saying how the ssb front squats helped him with sitting back with his backsquats.

That's a new sub from me. I'd never seen that 312.5kg FS from Koklyaev before, absolutely insane. There are rumours that Rezazadeh had done 300x3kg several times, which would almost certainly translate to 320kg at a minimum (700lbs+.) No footage that we know of, typically.

Is there a benefit to front squatting doing the front rack clean grip for general strength purposes? I wish I could but I do find it uncomfortable for my wrists so I either use straps on the bar or use the cross grip
@str1ker_eureka
@str1ker_eureka Ай бұрын
Basically the only benefit of the front rack for non-weightlifters is that it’s the most stable way to hold the bar in front. So if you can get flexible enough to do it without wrist pain then that’s great, but if you can’t then straps are a decent second option. The cross rack position is probably also fine, but in my experience it just feels like shit in terms of my balance.
