As someone who always plays offline many of these features really surprised me, so I thought why not make a video on them. Sorry it took so long though!
Check out all the people who have either discovered or dove deeper into these hidden mechanics!

DS2 Shrine of Amana You hear the Milfanito singing throughout the whole level and they stop when you get close, so you can talk to them. They talk about how they are singing to comfort the dead, and when they sing, the LITTLE ONES dance. Go to the first bonfire in the shrine and you notice the lizardmen in the water, they are marked by LITTLE fireflies. Now when you come close to the hut of the first Milfanito, watch closely, as when they stop singing, the fireflies disappear, which gives the lizardmen a much higher aggro range and they also change their stance. So in fact, they sing to comfort the dead, and when they sing, the little ones dance.

Similar to the DS3 "Undead hunter charm", in DS2, you can take the loot from a mimic scot-free if you throw a Lloyd's Talisman at it! It opens its mouth, but doesn't snore, as far as I'm aware. It was SO helpful on that one mimic in The Gutter where the Dark Armor loot can drop down and become nigh-unreachable.

There’s a hidden mechanic in DS3 with the old demon king in the smouldering lakes where he drops from exhaustion around 5-10% hp and doesn’t attack anymore
@bobbm1
@bobbm1 2 жыл бұрын
5:00 there are two reasons why the developers would've expected the player to be able to figure out you could burn the windmill, but only one really made it into the final game. The main way a player will discover you can burn it is by reading a player message. Dark souls 2 had a lot of moments where you would only really only see them if you were pressing a on every wall or reading messages. The other reason that would've made sense in offline gameplay even is that the game used to use darkness as a mechanic much more readily, obscuring your vision. you would have to have your torch out to light sconces and illuminate your way, and when your phantom had you investigate the windmill, you would figure out you can burn it.
@anwd8646
@anwd8646 11 ай бұрын
Something I discovered just recently is that the first time you enter fire link shrine in dark souls 3, a dev message will be hidden on the right side of the shrine, the opposite to the giant tree and the way up the tower, which reads along the lines of “Rest at the bonfire to travel to Lothric.” So if people don’t know how to get to Lothric, they explore firelink and find that message! Pretty neat.

For someone that comes from playing the other games, adding to ADP is some sort of a must to make your life easy and not learn the perfect roll all over again.
@PiccoloNamexio
@PiccoloNamexio 2 жыл бұрын
@@jironamos7650 Easy? Strongly disagree. It's far from easy, even with high ADP, you still need to learn perfect roll. First reason. The enemy hitboxes, Enemy hitboxes in DS2 are way larger than the actual "model". If you roll to soon, you can still get hit. Second reason. Stamina consumption in DS2 is wild. Rolling, rolling attack, and also running attack cost A LOT of stamina. You can't spam roll like DS3. Third reason, Stamina regeneration. In DS2 stamina regeneration is very slow, even with cloranthy ring +2 & Blossom Kite Shield it's still very slow. Again, you can't spam roll like DS3 and if you run out of stamina, you CAN'T RUN until your stamina bar is full. With that being said, DS2 is actually the one that the players really need to learn (the most) how to do a perfect roll.

the semi-indistrucible walls, like the one in sen's fortress where big hat logan are positioned can be destoryed by enemy attack that inflicts more than 100 "true damage". normally the player is limited to 99, but the stretching animation from when you load up a game does 101. the thing it so that you don't get stuck into destuctible items moved by the reload, but if you get the right place to go to the main menu, it breaks them automatically on loading the function is the same in both 2 and 3 as well, but there are no walls of that kind

Another thing about burning the windmill in DS2. You know that first bonfire in Harvest Valley behind the pool of poison? If you return there after burning the mill, the pool will be drained, just like in the boss arena.

7:09 I’ve noticed in elden ring that when I’ve struck with full charge of my heavy attack... or something like that I’ve gotten like 20 souls... it was pretty repeatable, but I couldn’t figure out what was the trigger. I’m not even sure it’s what I think it was, might have been something else. Who knows. But there is a hidden mechanic there some how.

I had always been led to believe the humanity drop from enemies where a boss was present to be completely random, but it being a counter makes more sense, I suppose. You're limited in the amount of humanity you can obtain in each area this way, supposedly about 10 humanity, and again, if you clear the boss beforehand, you miss out on the humanity drop. Fortunately it's not important. While it is a nice way to get bonus humanity, the best way to farm humanity in this game is by running through the sewers with a high humanity count. Every time a rat drops one, use it until about a count of 10 "soft humanity" (hard humanity being the items, because it's more tangible, I guess) and then just repeat the area over and over until you have as many hard humanities as you like. If you haven't beaten the boss, you could even farm the area for your 10 humanity that way rather than using the items, but it's better to clear it to avoid invasions and get your humanity faster by using the items. I don't know if it's been patched to have a lower drop rate, but I highly doubt it. Rats are plain and simple the best way to get humanity in Dark Souls 1.

In Dark Souls 1 the extra humanities that you can get from repeatedly farming enemies works with a little more depth. Essentially, for every named area of the game, you can aquire 10 humanities by farming enemies over and over. You will not recieve any additional ones in that area after you reach 10, unless you go into NG+. This is a very slow process, but it is the only singleplayer method that I know of for farming humanities that are not in the item form.

In Dark Souls 3 enemies affected by frostbite they take +7% more damage. Enemies doused in water will take more lightning damage. (Unsure of the percentage of damage increase. This is similar to the Iron Flesh/ Ston Flesh Weapon Art for Havel’s shield decreasing the user’s lightning absorption) In Dark Souls 2, in the big cave with the pirates and Felix Sentry boss, The Old Guard NPC will beckon you to come closer to heal the player if damaged enough. This can save you an Estus or two for the boss fight if you summon him to help at that part.
