A lot of people break the law and use the argument but I never hurt anyone. Whew! Awesome podcast Jeff, great video on an extremely interesting guy who some know about and many others don't. Few men told Scarfo to stick it...but with Frank Rizzo and his cohorts in tow...makes sense.. The government had a hard-on against him because they knew they'd be getting into the gambling business and wanted guys like Joe Vito out...too strong..and too clean... at least that's my thinking on this. Don't really want to get into what I think about the government in this kind of stuff... Anyway, awesome content with a really good subject profile.

I was a bookie back than and Joe controlled the lines not just Philly but the whole east coast and I believe more. Jeff I could tell you stories of how they use to do it with the line moves back in the day. And there were many Irish,Polish,Russians and the Warlocks and Pagans that told Scarfo to go get F&@ked. The mob would never come up to Port Richmond, Kensington or anywhere along the riverwards to shake down bookies. If a mobster walked in a bar down there and tried to shake down a bookie the mobster would never make It out alive. Mobsters didn’t cross Girard Ave. The night have gone up to the far Northeast part of Philly but never down the Riverward area. Look up Anthony Mad dog Dipasquale. he told Scarfo many times to go get fucked. Scarfo was scared to death of him.
