Hope you enjoy this video of the Highland Wildlife Park, which is located in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands.
It's about a 2.5-hour journey from Edinburgh to the Highland Wildlife Park by car and it's a super place to visit at any time of year. The park covers around 105-hectares and there's a drive-through reserve which is a particular favourite with visitors. Please check the website before you leave, as there has been a requirement to pre-book tickets before visiting.
The park is home to over 200 cold weather-adapted animals, from all around the world, with a particular focus on native Scottish wildlife. The park is home to the endangered Scottish Wildcat and Scotland's only Polar Bears. The park is owned and run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (which also runs Edinburgh Zoo) and was opened in 1972. There are excellent visitor facilities, with a good restaurant and shop and you'll have a wonderful day out.
In this video -
Red Pandas, Amur Tiger, Arctic Fox, Snow Leopard, Polar Bears, Przewalski's Wild Horses, Vicuna, Bukhara Deer, Turkmenian Markhor, Northern Lynx, Scottish Wildcat, Great Grey Owl, Domestic Yak, European Bison, European Forest Reindeer, European Grey Wolf and Red Squirrels.

Yes, I can recommend a visit, it's the best wildlife park i have been to. I so enjoyed both visits and loved all the animals and the scenery is amazing. Am glad you went there David. I stayed in Kingussie, a place with a Cairngorm feel to it. I wonder where you are going to next. Take care.

Hi Janet, that's wonderful you've visited. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's in a really amazing location too. I'm hoping to have a few more adventures this year now that restrictions are lifting. It's going to be such a relief to travel again, as the main reason for the channel was to get out and about after a health-problem. Thanks so much for all your support and I hope you have a lovely weekend. All the best, David :-)

Hi Frank & Lee, hope you’re having a good weekend and many thanks for your kind words about the video. Yes, it is really alarming just how many species are vulnerable or endangered. It’s something that I’m deeply passionate about in highlighting and it’s all happening so quickly. The work they do there is just amazing and even for the smallest of species like the Pine Hoverfly. Thanks for your support. I must admit that I do have a wobble with KZfaq from time to time, but I always remind myself that I do it for the love of adventure and photography and that’s enough to make it all worthwhile. I’m very lucky to have the support of lovely people such as yourselves and is something I deeply appreciate. I hope to have another Explore Edinburgh video up this week which I hope you’ll enjoy too. Thanks again, David

@@frankfitzgerald5832 Hi Frank, I’m so sorry for not responding to your friend request on Facebook. I’ve been a bit absent from Facebook and it’s a platform I’ve never really got to grips with. Your Facebook pages sounds fantastic and I will definitely have a look. It’s great you put so much work & love into it. KZfaq has changed a lot over the years and definitely favours corporations and media companies which is a real departure from its early ethos of support small, independent creators. It’s a trend that has been growing as all these platforms have monetised. There’s definitely a gap in the market for supporting high quality videos from independent creative. I really enjoy making the films, so I will definitely keep going and just take breaks when I need them. Hope you’re having a good weekend. All the best, David

Thanks so much Romana. It's really worth visiting whenever you're up that way. The drive-through is really lovely and they're doing brilliant work to conserve native species. There's plans for a new Scottish Wildlife Discovery Centre as a gateway to the Cairngorms National Park, which is really exciting. Hope you both have a lovely weekend and well done on your latest video :-)
