I’m running my new Slash 4x4 BL-2s at my local track. Most people run teknos. Their fast lap is like a 23 and mine is a 25.5 with race tires and sway bars. Had my first novice race and qualified first(race format) out of 9. And there were 7 ebuggys and in the race I hung on to 3rd.

Ive got the 4x4 bl-2s as my first 4x4 and I love it it’s so well balanced, I also have what started as a 2wd base slash with the xl5 in it but have slowly overtime upgraded it fully with the VXL-3 system GTR Shocks and low center of gravity chassis. Threw some proline track tires on it and run literally about 1 second behind the fully built race buggies at my local track and learned so much along the way as I built it about how to maintenance, disassemble and put back together! Highly recommend the slash platform to anyone getting into RC’s . Also you are right about the bl-2s motor running cooler , I ran my bl-2s for about 3hrs straight (about 2 batteries ) just like you said barley Luke warm even then .

As usual, great job Mark. I surprisingly love my Slash 2wd race truck with the stock 12 turn motor. I run my truck locally and I could not believe how well I did being new to the racing scene. Cant wait to return to my track and be able to compete with good racers.

The XL-5/12T is the perfect system for the 2wd cars. I have a mildly upgraded Rustler but am eyeballing that Slash.

The 12T has a bit more torque to the ground i think, but the Bl2 has a bit more top end so it evens out. Personally, i preffer the torque when i come out of the turns, so i prefer the 12T. Both are good, just a matter of taste and driving style.

Nice review and video Mark. Do you recommend upgrading the slipper clutch on these. I may have destroyed mine on my 4x4 VXL and thinking if its worth spending the money and upgrade to the center diff. I just run it for fun on my local track and do some light bashing.

I used to race Rc10's on roller skating floor in 1991. Now years later I found Arrma Senton that is nearly bulletproof. Brings back the adrenaline rush.

I’ve owned 8 to 10 slashes over the years and now this one is out I will probably pick one up. Since the motor didn’t get that hot I wonder if you swap out the esc if it would work on 3s. What would happen if you put 3s in it.

I'd like to know as well. I suspect it will burn up the ESC and possibly the motor. Maybe someone who knows for sure chimes in

@@michaelabraham8777 I’m sure Traxxas has it where it won’t do anything if it’s over 2s the VXL 3s won’t move on a 4s I’ve tried it and it’s the same with the brushed on 3s but I always like to push things like take the BL2s esc on a 2s lipo 150c and a 6500kv motor that would push the esc to its limit

If you want a spec racer, the Pro2 SC10 is so much better of a choice for a racer than the Slash. And the Pro2 SC10 doesn't need all these "heavy duty" parts to be reliable or tough. It's got a better diff, chassis, steering, suspension, same wheels front and back, and much more.

My 2015 Traxxas Slash 2WD Fox Racing Edition came with the Velineon VXL-3s ESC and Velineon 3500KV motor. Are they not coming with that anymore.

This is the replacement for the base Brushed models. Traxxas has started phasing out the cars with the NIMH and Brushed combo typically the vehicles around there $200 range. For now it seems as this is a in between option for XL-5 and titan motors and the VXL system with the main difference in this a 7.4v system vs the VXl-3s 7.4v-11.1v.

They will still have the VXL versions. This is the alternative to the brushed slash.

I have a newer slash 2wd with the clipless body. Not the new system tho. Ive been having issues with them going into a voltage cut.

i'll talk about this in a future video but i took the bl-2s out and put the xl5 in this truck. I ran a faster time with the xl5 last time out.

Highly anticipated?? By some I'm sure but nobody in my RC circle was impressed when they were announced. One buddy did buy the 2s Rustler for his wife. 2 weeks later to the day he bought her a Sledge like his because she hated the Rustler. But we don't have any spec racing series around here at all so that doesn't help it either. Still fans getting excited about an anemic power system is not a good look for the company. It makes it seem a if they really don't get new stuff to get excited about often.
