An “impossible odd” that never happened in this movie. Yes, Rickey had a minor league baseball career, but he never made it to the majors. This movie fits a narcissistic narrative fabricated by Rickey himself. There’s hardly any truth to the story. This film truly makes a mockery of the Hill family. Shameful.

Baseball movies, sports movies in general, aren't really about the game but about determination, under dogs, passion, family, etc. They tend to be sentimental melodramas; I mean that in the best possible, Spielbergian, way.

I like all of those movies, but I absolutely LOVE Field of Dreams! It is, without a doubt, one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, sports movie ever made. The ending gets me every time. Someone cuts up those onions right on cue.

Yes there was. Heck, even the eighties were full of "agendas". NBC's "The more you know". He-Man and G.I. Joe had a message for kids at the end of each episode. There has always been "agendas". I swear, today's generation is pathetic. Takes offense at everything. If a movie doesn't promote being a jerk, people get offended that they can't even be a jerk anymore.
